RA in knees

Does anyone else get a quite severe pain behind the knee in the ligament on the outer edge of the knee. It is particularly bad when trying to stand.

My knees flare up from time to time, but not that sort of pain. Could just be a mechanical problem in the muscles & ligaments - have you seen a physio? If I don't do my stretching exercises my legs seize up.

My r a started in my knees about 6 years ago I constantly went to doctors in regards to my knee feeling that it was moveing around it was only after I moved and got a new job as a care assistant and after a shift I couldn't walk that I had a inflammation check from my new g.p and it came back off the scale then I got told to go to rumatology at mocal hospital I'd like to say I feel better in regards to the pain it's eased off but in reagards to feeling dreadful I'm there and working in a care home is a no go if you have low immune system as since then I've been off work more then being there and work are not very supportive to be honest keep on to your g.p the reason it took me so long is because it was easier for doctors to tell me I was to fat and it's the weight on my joints that s causing the pain which was not the case please keep me informed on your progress hun and good luck x

Hello, yes I get quite bad pain at the back of my knees now too and it does make it hard to stand up, climb stairs etc. They've always been my worst affected joints but after 7 years of RA they are quite bad now, even when they aren't that swollen they are hard to straighten properly and this makes it hard to walk! My ankles have been getting swollen recently and my rheumy says this can sometimes be caused by fluid from the knees dripping down from the back of the knee (yuck!).
