Well Now that I've been diagnosed - everything that happens to me I'm thinking could it be related? In the past few days I have a terrible dry hacking cough. All through the night as well - anyone got anything to say about this?
Dry Hacking Cough: Well Now that I've been diagnosed... - NRAS
Dry Hacking Cough
In the early days of this disease you will be like this darling,so you haven't been alone. My rule of thumb if it lasts more than a few days get it checked out. Your dr won't mind if it puts your mind at rest. Best of luck.xxxx
I can't quite see the connection with the cough and RA except that some medications lower the immune system which leave us open to infection. It may be just a virus you have picked up but do go and see your GP if it doesn't clear up on it's own.....for reassurance as much as anything xx
Hi Mayna I am currently off methotrexate but was on it for 8 or so years and developed that cough, also I developed reflux which causes a cough but that has gone now. Also. Good to check with your doctor though.
I had this a couple of weeks ago. Was literally coughing non stop. What kicked it to the kerb for me was a bronchial balsam from sainsburys. All the cough mixtures you get are usually pure sugar but this one isn't. Tastes disgusting but it was brilliant
I think getting RA suddenly makes you aware of every little thing that ails your body. Before I was diagnosed I never used to even think about little aches & pains, or sniffles and coughs but just got on with it. But this sudden change to your life can be really destabilising and turn you into a bit of a health watcher and afraid that every symptom is going to turn into something as equally nasty as RA.
Which is not to say that your cough is nothing, and you should ignore it. Merely that you should try not to worry that It's anything more than a passing cough. Like Sylvi I have a rule of thumb that more than 3 days of something annoying, or 24 hours of a temperature over 100 and I head to the GP.
Hi I. V had a cough for 6 months doctors Don. T seem that bothered .even though in that time I have been told not to inject on 5 different occasions because of low white cells .I cough so much my head hurts.
It could be a side effect of your meds. What meds are you on? You should get your cough checked out by your doctor.
Take care
Sue
Lots of cold bugs around right now. I've had one recently that was more irritated throat and dry cough than runny nose. Generally the advice is just self help for colds (check the NHS patient info website), but if you are on immunosuppressant meds or it goes on for longer than about 10 days, then definitely see your doctor.
Mtx was one of the first meds I was given after my diagnosis. Soon after starting it, I developed a dry cough that became deep and painful--to the point where I thought I had broken ribs. I had to skip some doses and finally got better. But I was diagnosed with asthma a few months later. I blame the mtx. I no longer take it and I am glad! I don't know what you take, but these meds can cause a multitude of other conditions. Educate yourself and if you think your body is reacting poorly to your prescribed meds, speak up for yourself until you and your doctor find the right combination of meds to help more than hurt.
All the best to you!
I have not started any treatments other than prednisone and percacet - Call my dr and they sent me a z - pac - LOL way to know what your patient is on...
