Hi sjbu
Did they tell you the results of the scan ? , have you had many sessions with a physio? . If I was you I would let the physio know and see your doc for pain relief . Hope this helps a bit , take care
Yes, you should have been told the result of the scan. Does sound like it centres on the hip....you would experience pain down the leg from there. Do go back to the GP and ask to be referred to a consultant which seems the obvious first step now. xx
Like others, I think knowing what the scan showed is important. If it was muscular problem, then continuing with physiotherapy is probably the best approach. But if there was a problem with the actual hip joint, or your spine, then might need different treatment. Look up sciatica and see if that seems to match the pain you have in your leg. However, I think you need as a first step to go back to GP and ask about the scan.
sacroiliac joints, look them up
2yrs is a long time to be struggling with hip pain! I agree with other comments re: MRI scan result, you should have been advised by your Gp of any findings. You have given the physio a go and now it's time to be referred to Orthopedic surgeon. Take care of yourself.

How long is it since your scan? My hip degenerated from 'normal for age and weight' to bone-on-bone within 15-18 months. If it has been a year, ask for another one. You need a definite diagnosis to be able to take the right action... Steroid injections or surgery might be appropriate, but you can't know until you've had confirmation of what's wrong...
