Numb and tingling fingers

Hi. Week 4 of steroids and sulphasalazine. The pain is slightly better in my hands but have noticed the last few days some tingling and numbness in my fingers. Very uncomfortable in the finger tips. Does anyone have any idea if this may be due to the meds or the RA? Thanks in advance, Tina x

Hi. It could be the swelling causing that type of pain but it's really best to see the GP just in case it's a circulation problem!

Have you seen an OT yet, I wear my resting splints when my hands hurt and they help and also hot packs or cold packs if swollen xxxx

Hi Allanah. Thanks for the advice. I have my follow up appointment next week at the hospital (only recently diagnosed) so will mention it then :-)

Great, take loads of questions on a list via when u just have a few minutes you go out forgetting some!!! Also if you need physio, podiatry or OT it's a good time to ask for referral x

Hello

Sounds like nerves in the had rubbing against damaged or inflamed joints, there are several different conditions that will cause this so you will need to discuss this with your GP. There is several medications that can be given here, also several operations that can be performed. Your GP will keep you on the right pathway as there are also circulation problems that can cause problems as well

Hi. It could be the start of peripheral neuropathy which I had with arava and MTX. That is how my adverse reactions to some drugs start, burning and tingling in finger and toes and spreads up arms and legs. Best go to a Dr and get it checked out.
