My daughter (17) has just passed her driving test first time. She asked for insurance, I said what are you going to do for it. Her reply, drive you to hospital and do shopping! Lets see how long that lasts ha ha !

Proud mummy
Yay! Tell her well done from me. You never know she may surprise you & follow it through. Miracles do happen lol!
H passed his 2 weeks after turning 17, humphhh. I thought I'd fluffed it at the very start of mine. I ran over the curb on the corner coming out of the car park. Stood me in good stead though as I just relaxed as if on a normal lesson with my H & passed, first time too though no theory then except for the questions in the car at the end of the test as it was then! Couldn't drive home though, H had to as reality set in I was shaking with adrenaline!!
Yes I think it's harder now, I would never have passed the theory test I think!! X
Would agree there. Very possibly me neither. It's even harder in Spain. They almost have you jumping through hoops there & then for a year after passing it's a legality you have to have green L plates on the car. Kids here would find it so embarrassing, but then again consideration is generally given by other drivers, so possibly a good idea.
I bought her green plates and she thinks it's a good idea! I think it gives gives people notice to be a bit patient!
Don't knock it lol, gotta be better than walking and carrying your own shopping, just keep saying thank you and it might be done for longer than you think lol.
Well done to your daughter. Me still remember my test yayyyyyy.was shaking with excitement as it was second test. Then drove myself to work which was 15 mile journey and parked was really shaking then first time all on my own!!! X
I made her drive around quiet lanes here and she was saying, come with me! I said no go get used to the car on your own!! She was like you looking a bit nervous but half an hour later came back so happy!
Many congratulations to her darling. Xxxx
If you do decide to get insurance...maybe she could help to pay for it?? Check out the ones aimed at young people with a black box . We use co-op Young persons which I can dirve even though being over 50. Two advantages, one it's cheaper and two you can see from your account if anyone has been driving like a loon. Definitely made youngest drive more sensibly.
I was up till silly o'clock last night having fallen asleep in the recliner & when one of my dogs woke me up there was a programme on about newly passed drivers being spied on by their parents. Avoid it like the plague allanah it'd frighten the life out of you!!! The idea's a good one, they either have to have more lessons if driving bad & the parents are given some money for a car for the good drivers.
Oh yes I saw it. I'd kill her lol! I made her do 6 month lessons before her test do I hope she will be safe, I think she's a good driver
It is interesting & I think rather a good idea in principle but better watching for those mums & dads who's children haven't recently passed their test. Disappointed though not surprised that the girl refused further lessons as she was rather dismissive of helpful criticism but pleased for the lad who I thought deserved the money for the car. Her hogging the middle lane irked me as it annoys me. I've yet to see anyone pulled over since on the spot fines came in last year, so that's worked hasn't it!
Pleased you're confident in your daughters driving. Are you intending accompanying her when she feels ready for motorway driving or will she take professional tuition for that? When I first passed it took me ages to have the radio or cassette on (giving my age away now) as I didn't want any distractions!
ive booked her on Pass Plus. its £140 but they get 12 hours of motorway, mountain(we live in the north york moors so plenty of big hills) ice and skidding. It will help her and reduce insurance so i will gt it back eventually !
Oh good. Think it's best & wish more would take up the extra tuition. It really is invaluable & saves learning the hard way, particularly with winter driving. I've always been of the opinion professional lessons & test should include at least motorway driving as it's all driving wherever & whatever isn't it? Maybe more will with the insurance companies reducing premiums especially with them being so high for young & new drivers.
