I've just started on weekly gold injections and seem to be having a flare. My teeth on right hand side were paining so much I booked an appointment to see dentist who took X-ray and said no infection present it could be by jaw inflamed or nerve endings???? To take painkillers and see what happens in a week... Anyway I then noticed I had swelling on right side of neck...so got straight in with doctor who said my lymph nodes were up...so when I next see my rheumy nurse for gold injection on Wednesday to mention this...I'm a little concerned as my inflammation has gone from 19 to 46 so I have something going on but as yet not sure what?..any advice thanks again Nicola xxx

Hello Nicola, yes I think there is a link as I have raised lymph nodes in the left hand side of the neck and behind the right ear. I also have an enlarged lymph node in the armpit. I have had them investigated by different health professionals and was told that it was connected to my RA. Feel free to DM if you want to know more and definitely speak to your rheumy about it x
Hi francherry thank you for your advice. I see my rheumy on Wednesday so will be finding out what the next step is it's the not knowing what worries me thanks again tc sp soon xxx
Hi, I have rheumatoid in my jaw. It's caused so called "flat spots" and I agree it can be agonising! Sometimes when there's a trauma (whether that be infection, pain or injury) to your jaw or neck, lymph nodes are known to come up. I once had a filling at the dentist, followed by a giant node coming up in the area below my jaw. If your rheumatoid factor has gone up , I'd say there's something fishy about it! Look in the mirror and see if notice any swelling around the top of your jaw, where the joint is. Also, if you don't think the pain is bone related, like RA, then perhaps look into something called Trifacial Neuralgia.. It's a little off subject but I suffered from it earlier in the year. It's where the nerves that run down your face and along your jaw line, go into random spasms.. It can be absolutely agonising.. I at first thought it was abscess on my tooth but the pain soon became so bad I was being sick. It travelled right around my jaw line on one side. It's a pretty strange condition, but perhaps it's worth a look! You never know. Good luck with your appointment, push for an X-ray!
Hi RosieBear thank you so much for all your helful advice. What you've explained there sounds exactly how I was. I've never suffered pain like it and all on one side of my jaw. My jaw joint bone was tender to touch when the pain was so bad and like you I thought I had an abscess on tooth. Dentist xrayed my tooth no infection no abscess. Maybe nerve related??? I see my rheumy tomm so will see what she says. Thanks again tc Nicola
