I do miss a bath...!: Anyone else out there unable to... - NRAS
I do miss a bath...!
oooooh..sounds like heaven......havent had a bath in 8yrs....miss them so much but live on my own and cant risk getting stuck in there lol...such a shame as it really eases all the aches and pains....thankyou so much for reminding me of what i am missing :).....xx
lol that made me chuckle! I'd do anything to be able to have a bath now.... I may just have to go to a health spa an spend all day in a jacuzzi xx
Me too! I miss the bath but it was so hard getting in and out, it's one of the things I can't wait yo do when the meds work xx
I have trouble getting in and out of bath but when things first hit me I started using the little toilet step I got for grandsons I can get in but not all the way down so sit on stool then I can sit in bath remove stool have a good soak use step to get out in stages
lizz
I miss a good soak too. We had a council grant to have our bath removed and a walk in shower fitted instead. There are photos somewhere in this forum. Not the same as having a bath though.
Just like Lizz I use 2 steps purchased for grandchildren, one in bath and one by the side .I have grab rails opposite, so hold on tight step on step then step inside bath onto other step, then ease myself down onto step!!!
Only do it rarely and only when someone in house. Shattered for the rest of the day but it is blissful!!! M
Ooh I would pay good money to be able to have a lovely soak in a nice hot bubble bath. My bath is just a glorified shower tray these days. Got stuck last time I used it as a bath, my arms just weren't strong enough to pull me up and that was before RA kicked in proper. Ended up pulling plug out, then when water had drained away, pulling towel into bath for grip and eventually slithering out over the side like a slippery beached whale! I was frozen by then and battered and bruised.
I can laugh now but at the time I had visions of firemen with hoists coming to rescue me!
Hi
I also got to the point where my arms and legs wer'nt strong enough to get me out of the bath.
I now have a rechargeable chair that goes up and down into the bath..It's great to still be able to get in the bath, but it keeps you upright so isn't quite the same as having a proper lay down in the bath!
OOhhh, remembering when I used to have a bubble bath with the water up to my neck aaahhh heaven !!!
now just distant memories , I miss my bath so much, my knees wont bend far enough to be able to sit in the bath , the last time I tried I had to call my husband to lift me out !!
I want a bath so much, complete with loads of bubbles, candles and chocolate. Instead I have to have a shower which is just not the same. I need a bath I can walk down into as I cannot bend my knees.... remember Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra....she had one!! I would also love to be able to see the soles of my feet to make sure they are clean!!!
Problem is chogie, you'd have to walk back up again - on slippery and wet steps. You'd need a knight in shining armour to carry you.
I miss my bath too, just not the same at all getting a shower. I used to be able to get in but struggled to get out, now I carn't lower myself at all, just another luxury which has had to be abandoned.
Ooh, memories of lovely warm bath, with lavender oil, bliss, not had a bath for over 10 yrs now. When we moved to our bungalow six years ago we had the bath removed and a walk in shower fitted, but nothing beats a bath, so soothing and calming.
I do go for hydrotherapy once a week and it is bliss to stand in warm water up to the neck!! One can only dream now of taking a bath, Lynda x
I have a bath lift provided on loan form social services. It does take up a lot of bath room but does work by lowering me into the bath and up again. Does take more water as the seat is above the surface of the bath obviously. Why not ask? I am in England by the way.
The last time I had a bath was 20 October 1980, the day after my daughters birth. I have never liked baths always preferring to shower, I feel cleaner that way. We only changed to full shower room this year as my husband and daughter preferred a bath, but when they could see that I was unable to get myself into the bath for the shower, they said they would change to shower.
If my bones are aching I just stand and let the hot water roll over the area, they are great for hangovers, by letting the spray hit the back of your neck and head, you soon wake up!
would be heaven. lol
I know Lyndyloo58! lol got to laugh or you'll cry lol x
I so missed having a bath, so I invested in an inflatable/deflatable bath seat and I love it!
Also, there is no need for my OH to help me out. I was so afraid he might hurt himself. And then where would we be?
