FLU JAB REACTIONS!!!

sciqueen profile image
24 Replies

I've had the flu jab about 2hrs ago. Although the vaccination was not unpleasant, my arm is sore & I've got a slight headache. Took cocods about 15-20mins ago and now I feel drowsy.

In previous yrs I've not had any reaction to the jab.

Has anyone else experienced any reactions with this yr flu vaccine??

Cheers Joanne x

Hello BOB here

Did you have any other jabs with the flu jab.

Over three weeks ago I had my flu jab, a week later I came down with a cold like condition that lasted for about a week, it then started again for four days then cleared.

After the injection did you sit for five mins to make sure you were ok. All years jabs are not the same, they look for the four most strong strains, that is what they inject

If you feel a little jaded, give time to recover, with a hot cup of tea and chocy biscuit. and see how you go.

Normally I feel I have a headache all the time, of course that is me,

If not happy take advice,

Where did you have the jab

All the best

BOB

Hi Bob

I had the jab at the gp surgery. Cocods have dealt with the arm soreness & headache, but I feel really drowsy now.

Wanted to go shopping today, but niw resting in bed. Will probably sleep soon.

Thamks for your prompt response

I'm usually fine with flu jabs, and this time the day I had the jab it felt absolutely fine. The next day was another matter. I don't know if it was coincidence or not, but it really felt like a nasty flare the next day, to the point where I actually stayed home from work because I felt so wiped out tired as well as sore in all the usual and a few new places. I recovered enough to go back to work the day after, but am still feeling like I've had a bit of a flare up, but like I say, it could be pure coincidence that it happened the day after the jab.

It does seem to vary year on year, so maybe it depends which strain of flu they're targeting that year. Strangely I had a reaction lastbyear, but this year was totally fine. Was told that this year's cocktail is aimed at three different strains of flue and includes a vaccine against swine flu. So maybe that was the culprit for you? Hope you feel better tomorrow. Pollyx

I had mine yesterday, and I'm a bit snotty, but that may just be coincidence. The nurse gave me the pneumonia jab at the same time, which I didn't know that I ought to have: rheumatology at the hospital tell me so little, they like to leave everything to the care of the GP and practice nurse. I had one in each arm & then went home to do my Enbrel in my left leg as it was due the same day & felt I ought to stab a knitting needle in the right leg to have a matching set. No localised swelling, but I have arms like a navvy, so I wouldn't notice!

Hi, I had mine on the 5th of October. (I had the pheumonia jab a few weeks before with no obvios effect) Felt well before. Within a few hours however I developed a sore throat on the left and this got progressively worse through the day and I felt a bit off. By the evening I had to take some analgesia so I could eat it was so sore. The next morning I woke with my worst flare yet but the sore throat had gone! I could not get my hands into fists for about 3 hours. When I saw my consultant about 10 days later he said it was definitely a reaction to the flu jab and just like when you contract a cold it can tip you into a flare. I ended up having a steroid injection (I am on 15 mg of MTX already) and starting Hydroxychloroquine. Interestingly I have always had the flu jab as I work in the medical profession and I usually get a slight sore arm but this time my arm was fine. I will still have the jab next year as I have had flu before and it was just awful. It seems everyone reacts differently and I guess it is all about weighing up the pro's and con's. Sx

Hi

It's early morning and my arm is still sore. Found it very difficult to sleep, as I could not lie on that arm. Felt unwell last night at bed time.

I agree with those of you, who subscribe to the cocktail mix of the different dead virus combination that has been used this yr. Hopefully my arm will return to normal soon.

Hi,

I had my flu jab in early October, and the day after I had my first flare for nearly 30 year! I thought it was just coincidence until I read this thread! I had it for a week before it started to ease. So now I know! I wonder what was in it to make so many of us flare.

I had no after effects at all. No sore arm, joints just the same, feeling just as normal.

Hi, yes, for the first time this year I had a reaction to the flu jab, I had it quite early, about a month ago. It gave me a high temperature, very sore arm, rash, and 'flu-like' symptoms. As Bob said the strains they put in vary each year. However, when I had the pneumonia vaccine recently I didn't have any reaction.

Hi all

Arm is still sore, but I am able to sleep on that side, still not directly on the injection site. I've had raised temp & mild headache which have still continued today. Cocods have relieved most of the symptoms, but I feel tired as if I had an infection.

I'm friggin annoyed as I have not had the energy to do my wkend chores.

Early night and hopefully all symptoms will be gone by tomorrow.

Thanks for all the replies

Wouldn't have any of the flu jabs....anything the NHS/govt. encourages people to have (cos they have over-stocked from their big pharma mates) is deeply suspect, especially if it contains swine flu!!!!.

Hi all had flu jab 3rd year in a row, arm was fine, only slight soreness, had it on a Thursday morning, woke up on Sunday with a flare up in my spine, this has happened for the last 3 years! The first year knocked me off me feet for 5 days, I had the pneumonia jab the first year also.

My auntie has had a flu jab for last 10 years and always bleeds and bruises, but has never had a flare up.

I think it depends on everyone's own circumstances.

I have never had the flu jab. I have heard so many reports of a flare up of their RA after. I may be wrong, and I am not asking any one to follow me but I would rather take the risk. I eat a healthy diet, exercise and always wash hands after being out. Also carry the antibiotic hand wash around. I know the flu virus is airborne and I can inhale it. I have had flu naturally over the years, last time ten years ago, and hope I still have the immunity
