Hi Michille

I have been on both these drugs started on Enbrel then 18 months later I was changed onto Humira because the drug company stated it was going to be in short supply 6 months later went back on Enbrel then after 12 months they stopped working so now I am on Infliximab been on this for 2 years relatively pain free also Metho and Diclofenic

I have been using humira for 6 months. I have suffered from sinus and upper respiratory infections.

Hello, been on both but had to come off due to side effects. Projectile vomiting with Humira and complete body rash with Enbrel. Having said that I can't take MTX so I am different from you. The Humira was a miracle drug for me.....I was pain free for the first time in 18 months. I was really upset when I had to come off it. Enbrel was alright not as good as Humira. Having said all that everyone is different and responds differently so you really can't as how it's going to be as we are all different. I was on two other bio's since those and am now on Abatacept which is 'alright' too. I'm still on the same amount of pain relief. I do have more energy though and I've just learned to live with the pain. It's not like it used to though so I'm not going to complain. Good luck to you anyhow and let us know how you get on with the new drugs.

I had a choice but my rheumy advised me to take Humira as it is good for people with eye problems associated with autoimmune diseases. I wasn't on it long when I was taken off it as I had suspected nerve damage that might have been caused by the Humira, in the end it wasn't connected but was put

on Infliximab instead. XXX

Hi, I've been on Enbrel 2 years now, did start with a small dose of MXT but now Enbrel alone. I am 90% :)

The only side effect is infections, when I took MXT with it I had around 8 infections in a year but since stopping MXT (10 months now) I have only had 1 infection.

Wishing you all the best and hope it works as well (if not better!) for you.

Thankyou I am thinking of going with Enbrel as there seems to be less issue than the other, they have said I would have to stay on MXT 25mg injection weekly as well hoping not to get infection.

I was on Mtx but today I have my first Humira injection. I also have Crohns which is why the two specialists have changed my meds. The Mtx worked brilliantly for the RA and I had no side affects also I have not had to take any painkillers for the last 18 months but they say I need the Humira for the Crohns so I am about to have the first injection in an hours time and then I will have to do the injections myself at home. I am hoping this will work for the two diseases.

Hi, my grand-daughter had Juvenile RA at 11 she is now 14 and drug free. After months and months of methatrexate and chronic pain she was given embrel. Within 2 months she was pain free and now free of RA! Hope this is encouraging for you.

I was on Hurmia for 18 months, I felt better within two weeks of the first injection and had no side effects other than then injection sight itself., I stopped the injections do to catching a flue like bug and then the drug stopped working so well and my das score went up so taken off humria, two years later and three more drugs waiting for approval next infusion drug but I would give almost anything for the normality I felt when I was on humira,

I have been on Humira plus MTX for 5 years and it was a wonder drug for me. Side effects only injection site reaction (like a mosquito bit red lump) that stopped after a few injections. DAS score went very low until about a year ago and I am now having quite a few problems with my joints so see what happens in my next review in October. MTX gives me far more problems!

I was put on Enbrel after MTX didn't do the trick, kept having recurring infections and so was moved onto Humira, had two injections of this when I got septicemia. Restarted the Humira at the end of August but keep getting recurring infections so possibly have to move to a new drug given through an infusion in hospital. I have spoken to people who have responded to both though so I think both equally worth a try :) Everyone is different and I think on the whole both are effective :) Good luck :)
