Any unusual symptoms should be reported to either the rheumatologist or rheumatology nurse. I haven't heard of this, but pain in the lower left side is often bowel related. Are you a bit constipated? Pain in the upper left side might be more likely spleen or pancreas, and that would be something to report to your GP as they may want to do blood tests to check.

Thanks for your answer, the pain was in my upper left just below my ribs. I've seen GP today and he says he doesn't think it's related to my Humira injection but says my next routine blood test will show up any abnormalities. So he has put my mind to rest.

I tried Humira around Christmas and had bad stomach problems, I stopped the Humira for many reasons but the stomach problems remained, possibly caused by the steroids I've had to take? Anyway, one of the symptoms I've had all year has been pain in the upper left abdomen just by my ribs. I was prescribed Omeprazole and it had gradually gone away along with all the other symptoms like swollen stomach, food sitting in my stomach, reflux and heartburn, and palpitations. I'm assuming the upper right pain was stomach related and the Omeprazole is sorting it out. It was the last pain/symptom to go when I started on the Omeprazole. I only very occasionally get it now. xxx

I believe my pain maybe due to my ribs, as my job involves a lot of sitting, and since being diagnosed four and a half years ago, I have put on weight around my midriff

Since I was diagnosed in 2008' I have had random times when I get left upper quadrant pain which seems to be just under my lower left ribs. It almost feels as if something is inflamed internally and different positions make the pressure in my left side worse. It's has been throughout humera, enbrel and orencia dosing so I've never attributed it to being a side effect of a med. my labs have always remained normal and I haven't shown any other signs of pancreatitis or spleen enlargement. It does seem to correlate with an impending flare though.....so I always take notice and try to prepare myself.....as if that's possible :-)

I also have had spontaneous rib fractures to my left rib cage but higher up as well as shingles from my left scapula along my underneath my left breast but these occurred in 2012 long after the pain had started in my left ribs. Hope this helps :-)

Thanks Lorilib, it does feel like something internally is inflamed. But after my visit to my GP, he said it didn't appear to be internal. More likely to be muscle bruising. I will be having my fortnightly blood test on friday so it should be confirmed then.

I have been getting pain just under my rib cage for the past 4 months and have been on Humira for 15 months. I have had lots of different test done by a Gastro doctor but every thing shows up normal? Any ideas.

I had issues around 6 years ago with abdominal pain with various tests and nothing could be found. The pain was not continual and nothing seemed to help but also seemed to occur in different places at times. Eventually I had a laproscopy (camera through tummy button) and they found adhesions which had formed when I had a C-section with my last child. Farm

I was on humira for 5 months before suddenly one night all of the side effects imaginable hit me like a tonne of bricks. Chronic fatigue, could eat anything at all, really bad pain in my upper left side that stayed for 2 years And so much more. But the pain in the chest is what I'm gonna focus on here.

It felt like it was in the area of my lateral muscle (armpit/ribs) I had the full aching pain that just would not go away no matter how much a stretched. Rested. Took painkillers nothing worked. And then one day only a couple of weeks ago I moved funny in my sleep. Woke up in the morning struggling to breath like I had this huge pressure on the left side of my chest. It got better through the day but felt tight. The next morning I woke up and all of the pain I had been in for the previous 2 years was suddenly gone. I could still feel the area where the pain had previously been but I never did get an explanation and doctors always told me that we have to go down the route of making it more comfortable that trying to be intrusive and seeing what's wrong in case it made something g worse.

Quite happy I waited now tbh.
