Stress control

So I decided to bite the bullet and quit smoking 5 days ago after 22 years of smoking. I’ve been furloughed since March and talks about redundancies are being held. I’m using a vape now and again and I don’t miss smoking but with the stress that’s around the corner; I just want to know how other people manage stress and not head straight to the cigs?

Fenrir56 Months Smoke Free

Hi Kenben and welcome to this site. When I first quit, I used both the patch and the mini lozenge together. When the hard cravings hit I found that deep breathing, drinking water and going for a walk helped alot. The first three or four months were the hardest and then there will be lots of days you don't even think about smoking but there will still be mental cravings but not nearly as bad as the early days.

Hey. I’m actually finding it quite easy (touch wood) I do think about wanting a cig but that moment only lasts about 10 minutes.

I’m using a vape with the lowest amount of nicotine in which I believe is 3mg and using that helps a lot!! Without it I’m sure I would have caved in by now. It’s been a week smoke free and I feel so much better. Skin is great, circulation has improved already and so has my taste and smell. Oh and my bank balance is about 50 quid better off this week.

If you’re not using a vape and find you’re struggling then I highly suggest getting one. Good luck.

Good luck 🤞🏻You can do it. As you said, just think of the smell and taste of it. Also the money you’re saving 👍🏻
