Nicotine is a stimulant, it stimulates the adrenal glands to release adrenaline in your body every time you have a cigarette !. Stopping smoking will ease anxiety not promote it.

Hi Orical

I completely understand that you’re scared to quit. With or without suffering from anxiety, or worse having experiences of panic attacks, most smokers are fearful of the thought of losing their security blanket. The trick is to learn as much as you can about nicotine addiction. Read up on how it creates a false belief that it supports you in times of daily stress, boredom, social interaction and whatever else you feel a cigarette makes easier in your life.

Lots of fantastic pinned posts here, but personally I found the whyquit site very good as well.

I also suggest you seek advice from a doctor re: your anxiety and panic attacks. I’d try to address these separately and quite some time before you set a stop-smoking date. Help is out there, but you may have to look/search for what suits your circumstances for a little while.

Yes to srop smoking is a big deal & change and can be very stressful for some time, but it should not contribute to existing anxiety issues.

You can do it! One thing at a time!

I would say, one must stop this addiction because it is proved with the help of stats that we are losing laks of people every year because of this addiction. No doubt, it is a bit difficult task for you in starting and for anyone as well, but if you try with full dedication and faith in yourself then one day definitely you will be able to stop this. And that day will be a great day for you and for me as well. Good luck Orical!!
