Hi there, talk to your doctor about what is available to help you quit. My doctor told me I had to quit. I am using champix. I tried cold turkey but after 30 years of smoking I couldn't do it. Tomorrow will be seven weeks of not smoking for me. This is a great group for advice and the different methods that members have used to quit smoking. Good luck

Hi MarieKane, I quit with champix also, it still requires an amount of determination but I feel coupled with the champix it was the right one for me, like reader2019, I’d been a smoker of 30 years but I lost my dad to lung cancer last year which was my turning point. You can do it if you really want to xx

Hello MarieKane .... well sounds like you will have to stop due to health reasons... I can relate ... it’s a good reason as any and quite the motivation. It took me many attempts over the last few years. It has finally worked. Am now weaning myself off the patches.... getting there. As soon as I rewire my brain to stop thinking of them as my reward .... as I have given up/stopped smoking, alcohol, gluten, dairy and trying but not so successfully sugar ....🙈chocolate 🙈🙈... good luck.... 🍀it’s good to share. This is a great site. 🌸

Hi MARIE, I smoked for 50 years & decided when I was 70 to kick the habit - I have 3 young grandchildren & want to see them grow up! I am on Champix & now 22 days smoke free. I have been fortunate in that the only side effect is disturbed sleep.

Go see your Doctor it’s worth it & good luck.

Welcome MarieKane - have you discussed stopping smoking with your doctor or medical professional who advised you need to stop?

Below is a pinned post worth a read if not already done so. Read all the other pinned posts too as knowledge is power when we stop :)
