1 Year Smoke Free!!!

Just made it to 1 year of no smoking and I'm feeling fantastic 😁 It hasn't always been easy and there were times when I came perilously close to failure. But I stuck with it and I feel fitter, healthier and better off (about £1,850 richer after 1 year).

So, if you are on the journey to a life without nicotine, stick with it because ultimately it's worth it and you can do it.

Good luck and thank you for all the great help and advice I received from some amazing people who frequent this group. Thank you Roisin for your wisdom and for helping so many of us to succeed x

Hi Babs. Thanks for your kind words and congrats on reaching 3 weeks (the first few weeks are really hard so well done you!).

I know exactly how you feel about the initial euphoria and novelty wearing off, this is where I found this group to be at its most effective because I was able to post my thoughts and hopes and get great insights from some wise and empathetic people. Importantly for me, I used this forum to made a public pledge and commitment that I was done with my (secretive) smoking habit.

Use anything at your disposal; apps like easy quit are really clever and surprisingly motivating. Most of all, keep telling yourself and the world that you can do what others have done. Recognise and act on the danger signals. Mr Nicotine is a cunning, scheming little bast*rd and he will keep trying to get you to rejoin his programme. But every time you resist he gets weaker and you grow stronger and wiser. He is still here and he'll probably never quite leave me but I guarantee that his dirty days are over for good πŸ‘πŸ’ͺπŸ‘Š

Wow! Thank you Sherrysc and very best of luck.

You have taken the most important step by making a commitment and deciding to go for it. That decision felt really big and daunting at the time for me and I had many doubts and fears that I would fail. But here I am a year later, healthier, happier and very proud of myself.

Everyone is different and what worked for me may not work for you. But by joining this group, I believe you have made a great decision. You are in the right place and amongst people who understand what you are doing and the challenges ahead. Most of all, they are there for you when things get tough. A few kind, supportive words sometimes can work wonders and make all the difference.

You want this and you can do this. Best of luck Sherrysc 🀞

Well done josd, what an achievement! I found at times that I really missed it too and I think most people do when quitting. But I found it got easier and easier as time went by and I felt stronger and more determined each time I defeated the craving. Keep pushing through, 133 days will become 200 before you know it. Good luck πŸ‘
