Hey guys. 8 weeks nearly 9 weeks smoke free. For 6 weeks one of my nostrils is constantly blocked at the back. I can feel the mucus trickling down my throat it's yucky. I know the nose also repairs after quitting smoking. I've had this for about 6-7 weeks. It's Definatelt improved but not shifting. Did anyone get this? How long for and anything that helped?

:)

Hello.

I've just looked some stuff up for you but there don't seem to be any really clear answers. Some places say improvements are usually seen between 1-9 months after quitting. All state the results of a study that shows it takes 10 years! I am not sure what you can do aside from an appointment with your doctor to rule out an infection, which it could well be (husband had a sinus infection with the same symptoms). 🤔

Hey Shinyemily - good to hear from you. Just as a matter of interest, were you a heavy smoker or suffer from asthma / sinus issues? Being such a young age of 26 and smoking for the short time of 6 of those years, you seem to have alot of aliments unusual for someone this young. I would definitely vaporize a couple of times a week to clear the airways with vicks /olbas and try to get out and about in sea air if possible. Also, plenty of hot baths and even access to a gym/hotel sauna will help.

I am just getting over a very bad flu there that I had for over 2 weeks and the vaporizing with olbas was my savior a couple of times a day to clear my stuffed nose and sinuses.

I smoked on and off for those 6 yeats on average 15 a day. No history of asthma or any other underlying conditions. I think it's just a case of quitters flu :( most the trouble I was experiencing has disappeared. Just the nose to get through now and the anxiety but that's being dealt with by therapy :)

Good to read the nose is clear now. It is very common to have this withdrawal as the cilia (hairs) in the throat and nose re-grow which can cause nasal drip and acid reflux.

You are doing great Shinyemily :)

The acid reflux was awful. I had rib pain and chest pain. My husband has quit smoking recently after his 19 year habit! (He's older than me) and he's coughing up and nose dripping and has acid reflux. Now I'm the one saying it's normal I had it and it's gone now it doesn't last. I'm still anxious but today I vowed I won't let anxiety and depression win. It chose the wrong girl to mess with and I will fight back. I have Spartan blood! (Directly and have confirmed I am from a Spartan bloodline). I am good :) I can't thank you and this site enough for all the friendly advice and support I've needed and re assured me whenever I felt ill or down it's ok, it's normal and it will pass. :)

Just realised today my nose is totally clear! Ha. Everytime I post something the next day it passes and I'm fine. Must just be the weather and getting over the quitters flu. :)
