The first of May already and where I live we are surrounded with the yellow May flower or bush, it is really beautiful when the sun is out - not today unfortunately and in the heat there is a lovely coconut smell from them - always brings back memories of my childhood out playing from early morning until dark in the summer months and the smell from them as dusk set.....
So, good to able to enjoy this smoke free and appreciate it for the third year

It was my granny that told me when I was a child it was the May Flower/Bush, think I know the weed you are talking about, its horrible alright and would be in fields during the summer and smelled like wee!!!
Nice Roisin...Nature never sleeps...when it is time it is time, even for the weeds.....we had a few cold fronts passing but we only get the tails....dropping temperatures a bit but still on the 30's average....
What a beautiful view you have! We finally have warm weather in NJ...2 days ago it was windy & cold and we had a crazy freak snow squall that lasted about an hour. Today it will be sunny and in the 80s and everything is budding and starting to bloom.
It looks so beautiful, Roisin. Truly a glorious, sunny vista, thanks for sharing it with us.
Spring is here too and the snow is finally gone, thank goodness! Right now I have only clay and weeds to look at after the build last year. I'm so looking forward to having a garden again after apartment living. I can't wait to get my hands in the dirt again!
Bought my first plants, 2 hostas. That was the easy bit. The hard work starts soon.
My second spring smoke free...smells wonderful!
Anything with bright colors makes a wonderful view 👍
Beautiful sunshine today so got better pictures of the May bush along with some other purple flowers (can't call them weeds) in our housing estate green, the red flowered plant is from our front garden, took a picture of it as it is beautiful when fully bloomed but only lasts a couple of weeks every year unfortunately. Temperatures still fairly low for this time of year but expected to rise into the 20s for our May bank holiday weekend

Hey Lizzy, was just thinking of you and if your daughter had the baby yet as my friend's daughter had a wee girl yesterday
Would love to grow some of my own fruit and veg, garden wouldn't be big enough for it, might look into to a small patch or green house if we get the weather - if being the operative word
no.she hasn't made a appearance yet,we did think she was on way last week but no
definitely a girl,she has a ton of stuff,unicorn wallpaper,its quite lovely.
you can grow tomatoes in a bucket 😁 not a lot of room needed,I forgot baking apple tree, lovely with the rhubarb 😁
Hope you are enjoying the good weather in the Emerald Isle - just after a delicious 99 bought from the ice cream van there, haven't got one from them since I was a child
The beautiful Gorse. They actually flower all year round - even in the darkest of Winter you will find some of those yellow flowers somewhere on the moors. The Coconut smell is beautiful. The enthusiastic burst of colour at this time of year is perhaps their most beautiful flourish and they are truly a gift to the senses.
I knew someone a long time ago who made wine from the flowers of the Gorse. It was a delicious coconutty summer flavour. Memories... like the corners of my mind...

Thats it exactly Lanark - would have them all year round here but more prominent and the coconut smell is only around in the summer heat, took my dog out for a walk this morning and the scent was lovely as the sun rose and heard some cookoos tweeting , first time this year
