1 Week of my cold turkey quitting journey....

Yesterday, I reached 1 week smoke free! (thanks RoisinO1 for my badge).

I am delighted I have reached 1 week and have now moved from counting days to weeks - looking forward to getting to the counting of months, but know I need to just take it day by day even hour by hour for the time being...

Day 8, I am feeling like a bear with sore head today and feel very agitated, anxious and like a baby ready to burst into tears at any time (doesn't feel right for a grown man to be typing this never mind feeling this way!) and like a time bomb ready to explode... Not a lover of the heat and it is hitting almost 28 degrees down here in the south of Ireland so that could be contributing to it too...

Sorry for the rant.... :(

Congratulations Exfirecracker on 1 week smoke free! Hope you treated yourself!

Your post brought a smile to my face but also memories back for me, my first post here was at Day 8 and was exactly like you pulling my hair out, you are in the thick of the mental battle as the brain and body is working hard to rewire, repair and recover - you can and will get through this, I promise. Lots of water, keep busy (even though its hard in this hot weather which I would say is not helping matters, agitated myself!). Some herbal supplements can help with the anxiety....

Below is my first post here....

PS Nice to see a 'grown man' sharing his feelings, good for you :)

Ah Roisin, thanks so much for your reply, it is so valuable and inspiring to know this is normal and that I am not becoming a mad man!! It is unreal how this forum can help so much sharing similar stories, you have come a long way from your Day 8 post!
