Day 1 - feeling good so far....

Hi, day 1 today for me cold turkey, gave up 10 years ago after read Allen Carr's book, relapsed after about a year quit with just smoking when out, within a month was sucked back in full time - definitely no such thing as just one.

I just turned 40 and suffering with chest infections since January so decided enough is enough, have to stop before it kills me - smoked 30 to 40 a day ...

Feeling strong and determined but know it is a hard road ahead - looking forward to sharing my journey with you all, getting and giving advice and support,

Hello and welcome Exfirecracker , good to have you here.

Well done on getting through your first day. I too fell into the trap of having 'just one, which of course turned into another 500 or more!

You've done it before so you know you can do it and we'll be with you all the way. ☺

Thank you for your kind words mushen - well done to you too, nearly at 1 year!

I am almost a month in after going cold turkey. I already feel so much better and I have saved over £100! Keep going. Quitting is fun. :)

Hi Exfirecracker. I notice that you're 3 months free. I am just starting out on day 1 (6 hrs in). I don't know how many times I've been in this place recently but decided while chatting online in the early hours that I am a non-smoker. Am going to keep that in my head all the time, especially over the next 5 days before my op. Can't smoke that day either and following day staying with friends so week 1 of being non smoker dealt with.
