Hi all, after 4 1/2 months I have had a brief relapse. To cut a long story short, On Wednesday, the wife went away for the night to York. Lazing around watching TV, I had a couple of beers, I was feeling a bit low and noticed one of the wifes unopened packets of cigs in the cupboard and without much thought opened it and had one. That was followed by two more before bed.
Thursday, I bought a replacement packet for the wife, so she wouldn't suspect anything and then had another 1 cigarette from the opened packet before she came home yesterday.
At home alone again this morning before work and have just had another.
I decided to come on here for some motivation and have just screwed up the opened packet and thrown it in the bin (which luckily is being emptied this morning).
Up until then the wife smoking and having packets of cigs around hasn't bothered me, it was just circumstances were right for Mr Nico to sneek his way back into my system. Hopefully, with it being such a short blip, things will be OK and I am now back on the horse with no further problems.
After every one of those 5 cigs, I felt really guilty after what I had achieved.
If it hadn't been for this community, this relapse may have gone further, but reading such positive comments brought me to my senses.
Glad you are back on Woody... Yes this addiction is terrible...It really weakened our resistance by rewiring our brains to believe that a cigarette is there to relief stress, loneliness, boredom, anxiety, etc etc... But it really does nothing for us it just mimics happiness....and do great damage to our lungs and body...
Stay strong and now you have learned what is the triggers....!!!

Hey Hidden , sorry to hear about your fall but great news that you are back on your new quit, learn from it and make it the one. I have put your new quit date as the 05 August.
Hope you doing ok - nicotine nearly out of your system....
Have been there before Woody. Good on you for getting right back on it though. It just shows how easy it is for that son of a bitch Nico to get at us when we are at our weakest
