Day 3......

Hello again.  I am now on day 3 and it is not too bad.  I am using my e-cig which of course, does take the edge off of things - but I am not using it like mad!  Yes, there are moments when I really want to smoke.  I think I am missing the 'smoking rituals' that I have spent so many years doing.  The 'reward' cigarettes; the 'boredom' cigarettes and countless other stupid things.  I don't miss having to smoke 10 minutes after getting up (although I both want to and don't want to, at the same time).

I have been reading countless web pages about giving up and the benefits and this does seem to reinforce my resolve.  As does the support from others on here which is more valuable than perhaps I first realised.

Yep, Vaping is the only thing that has worked for me as well.  From past experience, cutting back on nicotine when vaping is nothing like stopping smoking actual cigarettes -  it is much easier.  Well done on your quit - keep going because we can absolutely do this.

I think missing smoking is the worst of all, we think they solve all problems when of course they don't but it's hard to believe it sometimes. I too have an ecig and it was certainly my salvation that first week, not quite so dependent on it now but I'm not ready to ditch it yet.  I too this forum really helps reading other people's struggles makes you realise your not alone, and the support from other quitters is great.

I am planning to lower my nicotine levels in 2 weeks which was what I did before and was not so difficult.

Well done with your quit - keep at it!

Mushen...You nailed it when you said you are missing moments and not the actual smoking...That is so true...I was reaching for my cigarettes for months after I have stopped...The power of the habit....Well done so far and the first three is done and dusted...Stay strong !!

Yes , I agree with that , it's the rituals that I struggle with and the assosiation with effents and smoking .

I work as a counsellor and understand the workings of the thought process and re programming your brain to think differently , however that said , I'm aware of just how bloody difficult in reality it is

After years of doing something , it's going to take a while to re programme our thinking , but we can do it and this site is like a little mini counselling group

Well done with your quit 😀
