Hi Everyone, Its 5 weeks and 1 day since I had a cigarette and so far I am surprised I have not given in... I just need some support and encouragement to keep going. I normally reach the 4 week mark and then something will happen and I reach for the cigs.... I consider myself a "binge smoker" I could go for 12 hours without smoking and then smoke for the UK. The times I would normally smoke I am keeping busy and changing my routine. I am so pleased I have got this far. Would be grateful for your support. Joanne.

Hi Tracey, thanks for your encouragement... I am feeling confident at the moment... but its still early days and I have been at this point before.... so fingers crossed.
Huge welcome Joanne and congratulations on reaching 5 weeks, that is great! Keep it up! Post often, looking forward to reading your progress...
HI Roisin, thanks for your message. I know its early days but I am feeling more confident and determined this time... Joanne.
Hi Joanne, you are doing the right thing by changing your routine- the times when/where you used to smoke, do differently, stand/ sit/ different time- anything, so your brain won`t be trying to connect back to lighting up.
Also, focus on the advantages of stopping, such as " I prefer to breathe easier" and " I now have better all round wellbeing" " I have more money to spend on geniune treats" ...whatever resounds with you personally. Visualise yourself in the future , benefitting from this. Keep at this , the more you repeat the imaginary you, the more natural that "you" will seem, so over time, smoking will just seem wrong and something that you wish you had stopped ages ago.
If you are eating to replace the void- do a brainstorm session to find what you can do instead that will satisfy your emotional needs - stressed, go out for a walk, relax, music......bored,go on the internet, the phone, call in on a friend etc.,
Hope this all helps...if all else fails, see a Hypnotherapist- it does help get the mind in the right place. Good luck.
