Lots of people, I'm quitting on them and they work great
Don't stress about cutting down, have some extra NRT handy in case the bump is too big and you'll be fune hun

Don't stress it hun!!
I did patches last time too (they weren't why I failed, that was me being an idiot) and yes I felt the drop but it was perfectly manageable!!
Chew a bit of gum, (NRT or ordinary) and you will be just fine, I promise!!
Tracey, I was recommened by a long term member to stay on the patches longer than usual, there is actually an article on the internet that I posted about some people staying on patches for 6 months and they had a higher success rate at quitting over all...... anything is preferrable to smoking... I was on 21 mg patches for 8 weeks instead of 6 and I definitely felt the drop last week when I had my bad week, not gonna lie... but now I have adjusted to the 14mg and I am going to stay on them for 4 weeks instead of 2 and then when I step down to 7mg stay on them for 4 weeks instead of 2 aswell.... dont come down on the patches until you are ready, theres no immediate rush xx
Hi Tracey,
Iv just started my stage 3 patches, you notice a slight difference but not much.
I also use the nicotine inhaler, which I find a great help.
Hope this helps you
I used patches to start with also inhalator and allen carr easyway book and this forum, all combined I am over three years quit. I was soooooooooooo scared and never in a millions years thought I could do it, but here I am, living proof it can be done stay strong keep posting you can do it.

Yep, I've just passed the 18 month mark a couple of days ago.
I successfully quit using patches, but have to say on I stayed on them for longer than 'what is says on the packet'. worked for me.
I got my script from the Pharmacy every Friday and had a good rapport with 'Pat', the cessation advisor. When I described my concerns about dropping patch strength, she advised there were no hard and fast rules about the quit plan, so with her blessing, I stayed on every patch strength for longer, especially the 1st step. And this was all on NHS prescription, I was in fact happy to pay after the 12 weeks.
Please just hang in there Tracey, it does get easier, I promise.

I have been quit 14 months and I successfully used patches. For the first couple of months I was on the strongest dose, then I dropped down to step two, then after a month on those, I stopped using anything. This was when I started to overeat, but rather that than smoke. I don't think I would have been able to do it without the patches, for me they were great
Thank you one and all
After reading replies, have decided to stay on first patch a bit longer, I was thinking of cutting down earlier, but now realise its the long term goal that matters, not the immediate mo wnt in time.
Thanks for great advic
