Anyway it's not easy - have had some pretty rotten days with it but somehow I haven't smoked!!
Am looking forward to getting to the place where I don't crave 'cos at the mo it is tough. I'm feeling like I miss it - no idea why 'cos I hated it - but there's this sort of empty feeling in my tummy if that makes sense?
But I'm not a smoker any more!!
Can't wait to get this bit out of the way though

Please have a look at what I wrote on Carol Rose's thread cos I think it matters that we replace bad with good-if you try to think of some things you want to do as a sweet non smoker, something you might aspire to...or else what you are doing is stripping out smoking-which we liked -and not replacing it with something nicer, that is why a hole forms which DOES heal up after a few months but that process is made easier by inserting something new,if you can.
Dead chuffed to see you here at 28 days sweetheart!!!!! xxx
Aww thanks Max!!
Was thinking today actually what I could do to replace smoking - it's kind of like I need something to do with my mouth and hands if that makes sense? But yes I need a new, good habit!!
It wasn't so much that I liked smoking by the end - but that I leaned on it so I need a different prop!!
I used to rush through a fag to get it over so I could get back inside.
I used to hang clothes up with a fag in my mouth, can you imagine that....knew when I did it that I was being stupid. Why not have the fag in a relaxed way and then hang washing?
Madness..
I always had one last thing at night in the cold..would light it and then wish I could just get in,so I d throw half away.
Never being a good sleeper,if I got up 6 would smoke 4-5 before 8.
I hated it but still did it,telling myself I was a fool and I wished I could stop...
Well now I have!! And Iv had some rubbish times this quit, where I havnt slept, cried ranted and been depressed...but....never have I once regretted my choice or romanised about them.
Don't you either Gem.....remember why you have stopped.
You are young still..don't wait til your my age when the trouble really starts...
You have done brilliant.even when it got really tough...in 3 days we will have been quit for a WHOLE MONTH......be proud of yourself Gem,because I'm proud of us

Oh isn't it a nasty feeling?
Can remember all the times I was out in the cold, wet, dark, you name it because I "had" to smoke. I didn't enjoy it at all but somehow convinced myself that ordinarily I did. Insanity!!
Used to rush through a fag too, and end up swearing 'cos I like my nails long and would catch the tip of my fag with my nail. Grrrrr.
And getting grey/white ash down a black skirt or trousers, double grrrrr
The powerless feeling was awful though - like those films where they invite someone into their house who starts off lovely and ends up tying them up in the basement

YAY you're free
There's been soem lousy times but you've got through and that's fab - and hell why would either of us want to go through this again?
Don't you either Gem.....remember why you have stopped.
I won't!!
Have got some bits I wrote down in my notebook that were actually written in between cigarettes about how it made me feel. Have posted it here if you want a look

The day before my 30th that's just what i needed to hear!!
You have done brilliant.even when it got really tough...in 3 days we will have been quit for a WHOLE MONTH......be proud of yourself Gem,because I'm proud of us
WOOHOO!!
I'm proud of doing it, and proud of all of us 20th-ers
And i can give my dad a birthday pressie - his daughter smoke free for a month - 'cos although he accepted it, he really hated me smoking!!
Gems, I get that feeling often and I fill that space with ice cream I can afford to though because I'm struggling keeping the weight on now I'm no longer drinking, can't be a bad thing though we are still on the rocky part of this path but seriously, this is going to get easier, grab the challenge with everything you have and hold on tight
Oooh ice cream is fab
You're doing so well hun, it's lovely to see!!
We'll have to fight, but all the good things are worth fighting for
28 days is a mahoosive achievement - those early days are dire and it takes everything out of us to just fight our way through so be really proud of yourself hon.
It hasn;t been fun and I'm amazed and proud to have got so far!!
Am sitting on my bed near a pile of washing and i can smell the freshness would never have been able to do that as a smoker!!
The hole in your middle is an odd one to be honest, never-smokers don't need a regular habit to lean on so do we want to create a new one to replace fags? Max is right, it does close up over time and assuming the six week habit breaking period that Linda posted about applies, you haven't got long to go before you won't need something to fill that hand to mouth gap. Entirely your call petal, but maybe it might be best to not replace it with any one thing but instead a variety of things so that you don't get to rely on any one thing so heavily again.
Mind you, I'd hope you wouldn't end up an anxious, stressing heap if you were deprived of your knitting for a couple of hours if that becomes your new thing!:D:D:D:D
LOL!!
Yes it is odd - but I guess because of smoking so much, and having the e-fag before that too which I used a lot, suddenly losing that is going to be a shock, and it takes some getting used to. I guess if you can remember that feeling you used to get when you couldn't smoke for a while - all ties in with craving perhaps?
Oooh I wouldn't get into anything else addictive, was thinking of at least temporarily replacing smokes with gum, or something like that - something to trick my brain more than anything else.

Have just got some Hagen daz baileys for later...medicinal of course :D:D
Yep - I know what you mean with the empty feeling. Its starting to fade though slowly.
One thing I have noticed now is that Pre Xmas I would sit in meetings of 2 hours or more watching the clock for the next smoke break. Now I go hours and hours without even thinking about smoking.
In fact if the comfort breaks were short most of us smokers would rather wet ourselves than miss out on a fix.

:):):):)
Oooh that's good to know!!
Lol, and it's odd you say that about needing the loo 'cos I was thinking that the other day. Whenever I needed the loo and a fag the fag always came first - no matter how uncomfortable it was.
But now, we're free and we see how daft that was!!
What a great post my lovely. Well done for reaching day 28! You sound so confident and positive.
Quitting something addictive will always have it's ups and downs, but the fact that you're facing the challenge head on is what's going to pull you through to the end! Xxx

Aww thanks hunny
I am going to do this now - no more cigarettes for me
Am going to take it gently 'cos I know from past experience how much of an addict I am but whatever happens, smoking is not an option!!
