I have just had a phone call from my stop-smoking advisor, although I haven't seen her since October/November-ish.
Anyway, after ascertaining that I was still smoke-free (which I am, and I'm lovin' it!) she said she was ringing for 2 reasons:
1) A man who had "dropped in" on one of my appointments during Stoptober (all welcome!) said to the advisor the other day that he would not have been able to quit if it hadn't been for me, that's ME, convincing him that he could indeed stop having fags. He had tried everything except Champix and I told him my story and how it was possible for ANYONE to quit, as long as they really wanted to be a non-smoker. He got some Champix and hasn't had a fag since. What is more, he then brought his wife and his sister along to a session and they, too, are now smoke-free. It brought tears to my eyes, it really did. I was so happy. (I'm a bit of a softy. :o)
2) The BHF and Smokefree South West are having a stand in a local town on Stop Smoking Day next month and would I like to be there to encourage anyone who visits the stand who wants to be smoke-free?! It's on a Wednesday and Wednesdays are one of my days off so I can do it....it'll be brilliant....they won't be able to shut me up! I shall be banging on about Champix and this utterly brilliant forum and the utterly brilliant support from the utterly brilliant people on here!
I hope it doesn't sound like I'm blowing my own trumpet or anything.........I always have, and always will, tell anyone who will listen that I could not have quit without this bloomin' lovely place and all the bloomin' lovely people here. That is what people-power can achieve. This man and his wife and sister have quit because of this place, and they haven't even been here!
The ripples spread far and wide and I am just so very, very happy.
lots of love to all

Ah what a lovely post! Amazing that your positivity has helped someone else to quit the dreaded fags! Volunteering for BHF is awesome too, it's nice to give something back isn't? Well done! And blow that trumpet, you deserve it! Xx

That's absolutely brilliant Val, you should feel really proud of yourself 'cos you help out on here and help people near you
Thank you, dear peeps, for saying such nice things!
I shall be manning (womaning!) the stand on Wednesday March 12th along with my lovely stop-smoking advisor and shall be blowing the forum's trumpet  very loudly indeed. I think I shall start writing a list of things that I can mention to people, because there is so much to say. One thing is for sure and that is that everyone who comes to the stand will be told about this place.
