newbie nerves
Hello Lexie Lou welcome to your first day of being nicotine free and don't be afraid of using the forum. I must admit that I bumbled my way around for quite a while but didn't seem to have made to many faux pas or offend to many peoples.
What a feeling to have that lum removed from your head. I'm from Clydebank and many years ago when discussing the pros and cons of smoking in The Horse Shoe Bar in Drury Street;Tam a friend of mine from Springburn who wasn't the brightest star in the sky, made the profound observation that if God wanted to you to smoke he would have put a lum on the top of your head. Years later when I was hopelessly addicted Tam's words haunted me, what a completely alien thing is the act of smoking. Most of us have had the experience of being in a stuffy hot place and that feeling of pleasure when we get out into the fresh air; oxygen at last. Yet I choose at the age of 25; to smoke knowing full well the dangers of smoking and continued till the age of almost 66.
Also don't be afraid to seek help from your doctor. Also there are other agencies who can help. Personally I used Smoke Line Scotland and enrolled on a 6 week course which helped immenseley.
So all the best with your quit and have Happy New Year

Hello Lexilou
You've come to the right place.
Everyone is friendly and helpful and I'm certain you will find this an invaluable source of help and advice. I couldn't have made it this far without the forum
Nice to meet you!
Hi Lexilou, you will find an abundance of support here
as for using the website, I joined a year ago and still have no clue as how to work it properly
hey! back on forum! projects are go!
Had some trouble with log in - all my errors, traumatised I guess
Back in action now. .
Really touched with all the lovely replies to my first post - thank you all
Ending day 2 now - wearing patch and have eaten my body weight
in chocolate but survived it.
Decided I need a project to keep my mind occupied so planning
what may seem mundane but things that will keep me positive - hopefully
Had a couple of pangs today but remembering all the good things
that will come out of non smoker status - maybe singing voice will come back?
Finally joined a choir last summer and stopped going recently as I sounded
like the character from Still Game . . " I want to join the choir"
This will maybe only resonate with fellow Scots who know the sketch?
Anyway, suspect theres a way to go yet before im chanting in tune again
Meantime , im inspired by all you brothers and sisters out there sharing
the journey
Respect to you all

Early days for me too- I've only been here for a few weeks
And your vocal cords are recovering even as we speak
hey lefoy
Thanx for the post - I love clydebank (worked there for years)
Will use the visual of lum on head no more for inspiration.
Happy new year - and as my old granda used to say "lang may yer lum
reek" meaning coal fires burning at home (no fag referencef)
Cheers
