Goodbye nicotine

After last week's fiasco of realising my e-cig had run out, panicking about said drama, then manning up and coping just fine without, I decided to put it to the test again last night.

I went to the pub without my e-cig (actually, I found it in my bag when I got home but had no idea it was there!) and had my usual Friday night with friends. Now I didn't get as drunk as last week, but I put away 4 or 5 Martinis (with lemonade) and 2 jager bombs. So a fair amount was consumed. ;)

I thought about smoking quite a bit really. About the fact that I didn't want one. Nor did I want my e-cig. At all. I was so incredibly proud with this step forward and really chuffed with the fact that I didn't care. We chatted about the same stuff, got into the usual drunken ramblings and it didn't trigger even the smallest of cravings. I was like every other non-smoker in the pub!

So, since Tuesday, I have not had any nicotine in my system. Therefore, technically, I'm on day four. woop woop!!! :D

  • That deserves another drink, well done. Drinking and especially, drinking and talking with friends, has to be my biggest triggers. My friends also all smoke, and will all continually offer me after being told to eff off. You seem to have pulled it off Bond style, though  well done.

Thanks Ash. It hasn't been the easiest thing I've ever done, but it's certainly one of the best. And now that my head is in the right place, it doesn't feel like a challenge anymore. Rather more a reward :) It's great to be in control of myself and to not have to worry if I have enough cigarettes, if I have remembered my lighter, when and where I can smoke.

    It's a very happy place indeed :D

  • Congrats on being nicotine free Sarah Lou and a big well done on managing a fair old skin full without the need for a smoke..sounds like you're in a good place :D

I'm very very jealous of that, hopefully I'll be in the same place in the not too distant future :) You can have a double now :D

    Haha, thanks :)

There's no need to be jealous, you can feel this way too! I wish I'd been more positive in the beginning. I spent so much time moping around when I should have been happy abut the fact that I've "untrapped" myself!

  • Well done

Well done, just keep going its nice isn't it not wanting a cig :D:D:D:D

  • So very very happy for you, just think of the battle you have conquered!:) Always remember the times you are proud of yourself for giving up, you will get the reward every day of your life as you are young enough to reverse any damage done.

Being nicotine free is great isn't it, but I dont think I would have made it through without some NRT for the first few weeks though.

Go outside and reward yourself with a big lung full of fresh sweet smelling air xxx

  • Very well done Sarah. It's a great feeling I know, as we have both struggled in the past, and we quit around the same time. I believe we are now really free we should raise a glass to each other.
