Nicotine Withdrawal

Here I am half way through week three but how long do these Nicotine Withdrawal symptoms last?

I’m finding it difficult to concentrate, my attention span has diminished considerably, and it’s difficult to focus on anything for more than a couple of minutes at a time. This is causing me to be really bad tempered, with very little time for anyone who doesn’t immediately share my point of view. I find myself avoiding others to lessen the risk of a confrontation. This is leading me to depression.

I’m forever hungry. I don’t want to be putting on weight and out growing all my clothes. At home I’m forever nibbling at slices of toast, but when out and about I’ve started to frequent McDonalds for a quick quarter pounder meal, I hate the stuff really it’s just a quick fix for the hunger thing.

I’m forever thirsty, I’m not too concerned about the thirst and think this may be a side effect of the Zyban tablets, easily satisfied with mugs of steaming hot tea, which I don’t see any problem with. Although the drinking tends to bring on the hunger thing and the tea tends to go down with a pile of biscuits or wedge of cake.

  • I know what you mean about the hunger! I couldn't stop eating myself:D

I wouldn't worry too much about your eating habits at the moment. At least you're not smoking. Worry about the quitting smoking for the moment and you can sort out the eating later.

I'm afraid I don't know much about Zyban as I quit with patches.

I'm sure someone will come on here and give you advice on Zyban.

Well done on almost 3 weeks!:D

    hi John

I was on Zyban about 6 years ago, after a week i had to come off it as i couldnt breathe, but i did stop smoking for about three or so months. Zyabn wasnt good for me i couldnt sleep, when i did sleep i had bad dreams which woke me up,i put on two stone as i was always pigging out! in the end i convinced myself that if i had one ciggie it would be okay but one became two and so on,then i went back to 20+.

I started champix just over a week ago,i had never heard of it,but i thought id try it other than being a bit sick on day one and day 4 everything ok. Today is my first ciggie free day,i have had no craving what so ever so i hope i can stay off them this time, good luck on zyban

in the beginning i was eating most of the time, now on day 47 and its getting easier now, but i know i have put on weight as my clothes are arguing with me...."no i wont stretch anymore"!!!!.....

  • Hello Kayla

Glad the Champix is working ...

Not having any of your Zyban sides here

The bad tempered grumpy old John seems to have passed now (IT HAS I'M TELLING YOU) pretty sure it was a nicotine withdrawal thing.
