Hi Billy,
You are doing great but I wouldn't be in a hurry to get off the patches yet - will be on week 5 tomorrow and still "need" them.
When you say you're fed up with them, what's the problem? Is it bad sleep or just the routine of putting them on?
If you feel ready you could move down a step and see how you get on of course!

hello Gemma its just the routine of putting them on i think
im sleeping ok so dont have any problems with sleep or headaches
I will keep using them for another week or so just incase its to early to stop
I would hate to fail now just because i stoped using them
thanks for your advice
you are doing very well to be on week 5 well done

Hi Billy, i smoked 20 a day and i went for cold turkey and believe me it was nothing like cold turkey it was so so easy. You must not have this in your mind that your going to fail "because your not"................i tried the patches the gum ect and they never worked for me because the nicotine was still there winning the battle............Billy either way your going to succeed LETS SUCCEED TOGETHER and lets kick the sh** out of this nicotine little monster...........because hes getting weaker by the hour and we are getting stronger :D:D:D
Hi Billy,
If you're keen to get off them sooner rather than later, you could try what other people have done and cut them in half for the next week or so, so you wean yourself off the nicotene gradually? Just a thought. I'm no expert, because I went cold turkey too, but there are loads of peeps on here who can advise you, I'm sure.
You're doing fantastically well to get this far. Just keep your head in the right place, that's the main thing.
Keep on keeping on!
Helen
thank you all i think i will stay on patches for another week then go cold turkey and see how we get on
its nice to be with with others that are going through the same thing
looking forward to week 3

Patches or ct
Hi Billy,
How brilliant that you are already feeling strong enough to take the patches off. I had a serious quit last year where I stopped smoking for over three months. I ended up going back to fags when the patches came off.
Now I am certainly not an expert, but my gut feeling is that patches prolong the cravings - or at least they did for me.
This time, I went with patches for the first four days and then went ct. It was a nightmare for the first two days of going ct but i feel so much better now.
I have had a bad day today but other than that, my head has been at the right place and with the exception of the odd craving I've felt on top of the world.
Ultimately, taking the patches off will make you withdraw. You need to have a read about common withdrawal symptoms and decide whether you would prefer that or cutting the patches which is a damn good idea!
Whatever you do, the objective is to quit for good - doesn't matter how!
Good luck and let us know how you get on.
