Hi Chelsey & Billy

It does get easier.

I never believed people that told me that early on...I just thought they were being nice.....but they weren't.

They were being honest! :)

stay strong both

Take care

Nifty's right, it does get easier.

There is something that may not be obvious about it getting eaiser. The cravings/thoughts at the beginning of the quit are strong and can be overwhelming. It feels like you are fighting every step of the way. It thus feels like you might cave in at any moment. This fear of caving in adds to the stress, which actually makes it harder.

Once it gets easier, you rarely face a craving or thought that is that strong. So the vast majority of the thoughts/craves are not a threat to your quit. You feel less threatened and so are less stressed, and this makes it easier still.

So as it gets easier - it gets easier still! It's a virtuous circle. :)

Day 3

Hi Billy & Chelsey, stay strong, i'm on day 3 as well but unlike you i dont feel too bad, not saying i wont go through bad times though :(

We can do this... come on here when you can, it truly gives you the inspiration needed to get through it by knowing you're not alone.

Dont tell yourself you are giving up, as in all honesty "giving up" what??? killing yourself is the answer ...we have all decided to stop harming ourselves & others & have chosen to free ourselves of what is very much now an unsociable habit!

Stay strong & think positive :)

Take care

Never quit quiting Billy...write down the fors & against YOU smoking.

If you can get hold of a copy, try reading Alan Carrs book, it helped me a lot, but instead of going cold turkey i choose to wear patches at the moment.

He makes a lot of sense, it's not all about the physical effects it's more about how we let ourselves be a slave to smoking.

Get through the next 10 minutes, then the next & so on, dont think about tomorrow or next week.

Try to stay positive inthe steps you've already taken, we're all behind you :)

Hi Chelsey, you can do it - just keep reminding yourself that! :)

I got through loads of chewing gum earlier in my quit (one of those boxes a day) and nearly broke my fidget toy as well *but* stay strong and you'll come out the other side of it same as I have!!

Honestly (and when people said this to me early on I didn't believe it) it gets a *lot* easier! Bonus is the feeling you get from beating the craves!

Keep chewing and posting and I'm sure you'll get there

I agree with Nifty and Biggrin, it really does get easier.

October seems like a lifetime ago now. The old smoking me, the stinking, out of breath, pinched face me, thinking of smoking constantly.

This forum is a bloody good support and like when I was doing stoptober there are going to be a lot of you in the same boat with the new year quitters.I don't think many of us fell by the wayside from October. As there was usually someone to empathise, sympathise and celebrate with.

Good luck and keep it up.
