Made it to day 3, only the gods knows how!

I have made it to day 3 :), yesterday was tough. Got home and all I wanted to do was hide in a dark corner. Another bad nights sleep and my head is now hurting. Hopefully this will pass and my 10am urge will be less than yesterdays.

On a positive note, when walking up escalators I seem to be able to do it quicker and feel less out of breadth.

On a less positive note I was horrid to my wife and kids when I got home. Just snapped at them for no reason.

    Hi DaBear

Yes, the first few days can be like an emotional roller coaster. However, this too will pass. You may have snapped at your wife and kids for now, but you will more than make it up to them in the future when you are not smoking. You'll be more emotionally available for them as well as having more money to spend on them instead of on cigarettes.

Hang in there - it's worth it.:)

  • Well done DaBear, it's very tough going for you at the moment, however, it will soon start to get easier. Stick with it, you are doing brilliantly.

  • Well done, daBear!

Day 2 is when the physical withdrawal starts picking speed, and i also struggled with it, but you must be feeling elated to have made it to day 3?

I am also withdrawing, quite badly, but trying to get out in the fresh air for walks and then read as much a I can when I am home. Yes, it's escapism, but at the moment it's helping!

  • Well done so far, you are doing great.

Being agitated and moody is another of the nasty side effects. Hopefully, they are being supportive to you as it is important that they don't take anything to heart during this time as it is the withdrawal and cravings talking rather than you.

I'm sure they'll forget the grumps when all the money saved buys something nice for the family.

  • Day three nearly done and still smoke free.

Suffering a bit now, but not as bad as yesterday. I think I'm tired from work/lack of sleep plus the constant battle with the little voice in my head telling me to smoke.

Big thanks to everyone on this forum for posting their stories and supporting me in the quitting process.

I know it's hard to believe now, but that little voice will go away in due course! You are doing really well, keep it up.
