Reverted to an old favourite - start a row and feel justified in having a fag. Thank God I didn't but boy were those cravings torturous. Then the big relationship discussion followed by a business opportunity, both big smoking 'reasons' but again I didn't although sorely tempted. Much as my wife enjoys the fact that I don't smoke there's a disconcerting sense of reserve which I guess is down to the fact that I've bull-shitted so much in the past.
If I didn't know the importance of it before I certainly do now and that is that I can't stop for or to please anyone else other than myself.
I'm finding this forum very helpful and useful.

Know that feeling of using a cigarette as a reward. No matter how many reasons I've had/been given to quit, I've never been able to do it unless I was ready or I really wanted to. My husband telling me I smelt bad after I'd been out for 5 (1 cigarette, 5 minutes that is, 5 not cigarettes) only made me want to go out and have another one. Here's hoping this will be the last time I have to quit.
Neil - just worry about yourself for now all the rest of the stuff will work itself out whether your smoking or not. There will always be what seems to be a good reason to smoke (trust me I know) but the best reason to not give in is would you really want to go through the 1st few days of quitting again?
Stay strong, go for a walk, take a break, make an excuse to go to the store. Do whatever you need to do to get away from the situation for just a little while and it will get better.
