Tangle Teaser.........

Well, it's taken me a week to get activated on this site!! Have been reading a lot of posts though, all very inspiring and motivating - everyone on here is doing great.

I'm on day 14 & am just so chuffed, I didn't think I could do it and have really surprised myself. I've got a lot of positives to stay on the right track so I'm really focused and determined not to just have ''one'' (did that last time). I am a little bit dubious though as up until now I haven't really had any mentalness in needing a ciggie - not kidding myself that that time won't come.

I got sent a smoke free kit which had this tangle teaser fiddly gadget in it and it is just the best thing - highly recommend if anyone is looking to keep their hands busy and mind off of smoking.

According to the app on my phone I've also £113.40p better off.

Hi Rocks,

Welcome to the forum!

It sounds like you're really on a roll, and you might in fact not have any major symptoms. I would, however, warn you that most people have their wobbly moments, so be prepared by telling yourself firmly now that if it happens you will stay strong. No harm practicing just in case.

I've no idea what a tangle teaser is, but anything to distract you can't be a bad thing. Good luck, and let us know how it's going.

Alex.

Thanks Alex

I'm waiting for the wobble, hopefully I'll be stubborn enough not to give in!!

You've done well - 2010, Cold Turkey!

Thanks Rocks. Probably the most trying period for me was around the six-month mark. I was well into the quit, but so far away from the famous "penthouse" (1-year mark). Now after almost two years quit, I really don't care for smoking at all, and I don't even notice it when others smoke around me.

To practice, think of the times when you would typically light up, and imagine yourself saying "no, I don't want to" in those situations. The more situations you can think of, the better prepared you will be if and when the time comes.

Thanks for the tips.

I met up with a friend last night who smokes, I was a bit anxious about it. Got through it though without giving in. I feel that that's one down but plenty more to go.

Onwards and upwards.....Day 15 here I come.

Oh and thanks for the heads up on 'penthouse' seen it in a few posts and no idea what it meant :)

Rocks Hi, day 15 now - you're doing great. I'm on day 12 seem to be going OK. Like you I'm thinking about how I'm going to deal with any wobbles that come along the way. This week is a lot better than last week so massive progress but I know from reading the other posts that you just have to stay on guard. As someone on here I think said, quitting is a process, not an event. Just have to stay with it

Hey DG,

Well done you - cold turkey! A lot to be said for that I think, shows that you're super determined and focused.

One day at a time, it does seem to get easier though. First few days smoking took over 100% of my thoughts, it was all I could think about, that's when I wasn't sleeping :) - I was so tired!! Now, not so much. Only my favourite times to smoke, after dinner, morning cuppa etc. That's when my trusty tangle teaser comes into its own.

I'm liking this forum, nice to know that I'm/we're not on our own. It's also nice to read from people ahead of us to get a heads up on what might come our way.

Have a good day!!

Rocks Hi yeah I found the 1st week real bad, only really day 8 started to feel 'normal' Still think about it but not as much and my mood is a lot better.

I'm just trying not to worry about anything else at the moment and just focus on this - anything else can wait cos if I dont quit it ain't gonna matter in the long run

Still no idea what a tangle teaser is! Are you going to keep it a secret?

Hi Rocks

Congrats and welcome. Delighted to hear that you're having a relatively easy start. As Alex said, there's no guarantee that you'll get the evils. But do be prepared for them and psyche youself up now to ensure you stay strong and smoke free if you get hit.

We all recognise that we mustn't be complacent, but as time goes by, we are able to easily resist those 'healing moments' that sneak up on us from time to time.

You're doing great - keep it that way! :D

Thanks Shazza - week 3 now. Who would have thought it?!?

You've done so well. How are you finding things at Month 4?

Hi and welcome

I had a really easy start to giving up the first 2 weeks were the best then after that all the symptoms started up. And I wish they would just go now. I'm on month 4 and I'm just starting to get the cough and loosening of rubbish on my chest.

But iv bin told by lots of people it takes time. Iv read plenty of stuff over the Internet and it could take a year for my body to recover from the effects of a 15 year abuse to it.

Hey Rocks, welcome & congratulations on 14 days....my first 14 were "angry" but after week 4 it got so much easier for me...as Alex says maybe you'll get away with it as you are :D
