Day one arrived early!

Well, I had planned to stop next Weds for no smoking day. But I've been reading on here all weekend to psych myself up and couldn't wait.

I had a couple of cigs before I left home this morning (slept in and they were smoked before I realised), so last one was 7.30 this morning. BUT nothing since then, so..... Day one seems to have landed, why wait I thought! It's almost over now and I'm off to bed without a ciggy! :)

Been using Niquitin minis and inhalator and find them really good. Tried Champix about a year ago but it made me feel really sickly. Have had health problems recently though, high BP, and I know the smoking has to go. Smoked 20 - 30 for over 20 years now and it's taken its toll :(

Found lots of great tips on here and look forward to contributing. Been reading the 'positive symptoms of quiting' thread. Really encouraging and it's amazing how many people say they feel less stressed!

Feel great I've got through (most) of today, didn't think that was possible!

Hey you- MASSIVE well done for getting through that first awful day. I did the same as you- the actual quit was gonna be a few weeks aways and I was going to just try to not smoke to work out what the biggest challenges were, but as the hours built up, it seemed daft to smoke, so it ended up turning into day 1. It doesn't matter how we get to day 1, we get there, and they grow into days and weeks.

It's a good feeling isn't it, that what we thought was impossible, is possible- keep going- I'm only 4 weeks in, but it's all so so worth it

Thanks Bradders and Pols! I'm going to pat myself on the back and look forward to Day 2!

As you say Pols, it seemed daft to drag it out. I was reading about the benefits after so many hours etc and by tomorrow when I wake up, I'll have eliminated the carbon monoxide. Can't wait for the rest of the benefits!

very best of luck as you go. you may get stressed before you feel un-stressed, you see the 2 extremes, but worth all the effort.

Many have made this journey to freedom that you are on now, and it is possible, just keep wanting the success, and be determined.

Thanks Jase, I am expecting stress first but am trying to look ahead!

Not expecting it to be easy, infact I thought one say without a drag would be impossible, but been up half an hour on day 2 and not caved yet. Mornings are my very worst time, I've normally lit up before I know what I've done.

Thanks Ellie, Marg, Tink and Zozie! Will check out the links Marg, that's really useful. I'm finding reading helps to encourage me.

Went to a smoking cessation drop in today and got some patches to use with the minis and I'm going to go back weekly. I think that will help keep me focussed.

BUT, the lady there said that since I smoked a couple yesterday morning, today is mu quit date. So I guess I'm still on day one!

Never mind, she measured my carbon monoxide and it's down to 3 and in the non smoker bracket already! Woo hoo!

Still feeling positive and will be hanging around reading more.

Hope everyone elses day one is going well :)
