I had to call in to mark my entry into the Penthouse. I am here in no small part because of the support that I got from this forum so it is only right that I should come and say thank you to you all.

Not one puff, and that feels pretty amazing. Smoking has certainly taken its toll over the years, but I won out in the end.

Looking back over the last year, I can honestly say that it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The worst part was definitely those early days. For the first few weeks, it was like groping my way through a dark tunnel. You don’t want to be there, but know this is part of your journey. It’s tough because you lose your sense of where you are going. It can feel as scary as hell. But in your heart, you know it won’t kill you and that if you just keep going, you will come out at the other end.

And when you do, you laugh at yourself for being so frightened and stupid.

So here I am, laughing. I love being a non smoker. I can’t believe I waited so long to do this, but that’s all history now. My only thought when I see people smoking is that I am so very glad that’s not me any more.

I see that a few of you are struggling at the moment – all I can say is please hang on in there. Try to find a way to get your head in a positive place – this is not about being deprived of anything good – this is the best gift you can give to yourself. Believe that, and you will soon be laughing too.

I am sorry that I can't come on here very often now. I have added Carer to my list of duties since my OH had his stroke, and he makes a rotten patient. :rolleyes: Every time I sit down at the computer, he identifies another need. It's good to see that there is still such great support for the newbies, though.

On getting to the penthouse you have arrived at just the right time to enjoy the nice cool poolside bar we had to install another one as with all the hot weather there wasnt enough room for us all
