beginning 5 months

Soooooo, I've made it this far, I'm starting my 5th calendar month tomorrow. I'm still feeling strange, crap memory, constipation etc so if anyone's reading this who feels the same please let me know. And if anyone is reading this who has just stopped smoking then KEEP IT UP, you CAN do it (honestly, if I can then you can) - just go with the flow and see where it goes...

Can't say i have experienced any of those symptoms at all even know i'm two months behind you.

I suffer more from red rashes and little spots/bumps mainly on my head.

Congrats anyway to you. :)

Ions

Hi Poppyseed congrats on your 4 months completed, I am right behind you at 4 and a half months, I have suffered all these ions constipation, depression, frustration you name it I've had it, so it must be the stop smoking side effects. The constipation is now better but still having angry outbursts occasionally, hope everything sorts themselves out for you xxxxx

Well done on getting this far Poppy.

I think it is easy to underestimate the effect of all those years of smoking has had on us, and it can be dissapointing when you still feel crappy after quitting. From a physical point of view, though, bringing an end to long term smoking is bound to be traumatic on the system, and it's not really a surprise if it takes some time to sort out.

I made a concious effort to increase the "healthy things" in my life - eating five a day for the first time, making sure to go for a walk every day. Neither of them came naturally to me, but its amazing how you get used to things. :)

Marvellous stuff poppyseed! :D

Give your body time to readjust to its life without all those chemicals, it's bound to take time.

Just remember that everyday you stay smoke free, your body continues its amazing healing process.

See you soon in the 6 months+ room! :D

I feel exactly the same as you so it must just take time to sort itself out. I do take stuff now to aleviate the symptoms but it does get you down. I did read somewhere that nicotine is a laxative so that explains that! Lets just keep going and I am sure it will get better:D

Well done Poppy. i know all about those dreadful ions iv had them all. it does all iron itself out in the end tho ,pardon the pun. and as dreadful as they seem to be when your in the midst of them , smoking will only add a sense of failure to the list. iv had a lifetime of smoking ,i think it might take longer than i anticipated for my body and mind to adjust. at the end of the day smoking just cannot be the wonderful thing that solves everything. it just isnt. wasnt and wont be.
