Just wondering if you can read Alan Carr online. I keep reading on here that he helps you understand why you smoke. I am concerned that I haven't changed my mindset and that I am just going through the motions until I can smoke again, does that make sense?
Alan Carr: Just wondering if you can read... - No Smoking Day

Stay with it Shojam, you really aren't missing anything by not smoking.

Come on, you can make it through this, it's just one more test you can beat
Hi Shojam
I'm sure that there is an e-version that you can download. Someone on here put some links up, but sadly, I can't remember who. I'm sure that sooner or later, someone who knows will come along to help.
I think you are right to want to get your mindset right. My last quit before christmas felt a bit like that - I had stopped smoking, but there was still a sense of missing out and being deprived of something good. this time, although I am still in my early days, I don't see it like that at all. I feel much more positive about not being a smoker anymore.
I'm not sure what made this time different. Partly this site, and the ability to really educate myself about what was going on. Partly because I ended up feeling so down on myself for slipping back, and I never want to feel so disappointed with myself again. Partly, the realisation that I have pushed this smoking lark too much already and I simply can't afford to act like a kid about it any more.
Good luck to you - I hope that everything works out well. You have come so far.

See? I told you help would arrive! This site is bloody brilliant!
Thank you, I just want to read it. I really don't want to get complacent this time. I may be able to understand a wee bit more if I read this.
Hi Shojam
I read Allen Carr about 3 weeks into my quit. Although I did not agree with everything I did find it well worth while reading and a lot of positives to be taken from it.
Its a fairly short read and anything that helps is worth a go.
Good luck
Wow Capitan thanks for that - printing as I type.
I did actually buy a copy years ago and whilst it's not an instant cure, it's worth a second read (or third) to reinforce the good tips and techniques and help with the mindset.
Interesting youtube link of Allan summarising in a few sentences here youtube.com/watch?v=AgvkSoY... (nice house too!)
My pals' 15 year old son who has been smoking for 2 years went to an Allan Carr workshop today. The workshop cost a fortune but the boy came home and handed his fags to one of his mates (hopefully not my son) so it must work to some degree.
Got it on the iPad now, I can read it whenever I need to. Thank you master Capitan, you are a star
Shojam, if it's any consolation, I felt exactly like that - like I was just putting off smoking, that I would inevitably cave and it was just a question of when - for some months. Probably about half a year if I'm honest. I just kept choosing not to smoke, day in day out. And I can't tell you exactly when, it wasn't a sudden thing, but gradually the penny dropped and my subconscious caught up with my conscious.
The link in my sig sums it up
I hope Alan Carr helps you - it seems to struck a chord with a lot of people on here.
H
I read it about a week into quitting and found it really reinforced my decision and my mindset. It wouldn't hurt for u to give it a go
I put the audiobook version in the car and listened to it driving to and from work. Followed it to the letter, and stubbed out my last cigarette 8 days ago. No desire whatsoever to smoke because I now understand how nicotine addiction works, and how it had me trapped.
I can honestly say I will never smoke again.
i too put a lot of my success down to this book. I have found it all very easy and like limpet, i know i wont knowingly smoke again.
its mostly a mind game that if you understand you can win easily.
