Having battled (successfully, I might add) with quite a few triggers over the last 3.5+ days, I have come to the belief that cravings have pretty much no imagination.
It's always the same old thing: "Oh, wouldn't a cigarette feel good right about now? Wouldn't you like to lower that tension you're feeling? Want something to help with that self-esteem you've been beating up?"
Yada, yada, yada. Same old, same old false promises: "You can smoke just one."
"Who's gonna know, any way?"
"Trust me, just this one time. Then you can get back to that silly quit you're on."
"Seriously - just smoke one and your cravings will go away forever. I mean it!"
You'd think cravings could be a little more clever than that, such as:
If you smoke a cigarette, your income will go up 100% in three months.
How about a smoke? Did you know that smokers have sexier cars, bigger houses, longer vacations, and are FAR better looking than other people?
Pssst: Hey kid, smoke one of THESE and I'll reveal the secret of life.
Forgive me, I'm rambling right now, writing this as an antidote to a craving that's been irritating me for a few minutes.
Craving? BEAT IT!
