just eat food that wont pile the weight on . fruit is good, sugar free mints also. it might be agood idea to nip it in the bud .i didnt and now iv got an extra 3.5 stone to cart around.
Hi Carolyn05 - I've been eating like a horse too. Although I haven't been as bad this week so I'm hoping it passes. I'm on day 47 & days 39 - 40 were the worst for me.
I guess it all boils down to what you eat. I've been addicted to various things since I stopped smoking
At one stage I was gorging on figs until I realised they were $1.70 each - costing me more than smoking!
The only thing I know what to do is make sure what you eat won't make you put on too much weight. I don't think you can go wrong with fruit. I know there's sugar there but because of the fibre you'll get full before you can eat too much sugar. I also have heaps of vegetables with the main meal & that helps.
Miraculously I haven't put on any weight ( not yet anyway ) but I do quite a bit of exercise. I can't help you with the question "how to keep away from food" - I know I can't keep away from it.
Ok Im from South Africa so when you say that you carrying a extra 3 stone I have no idea how much weight that is!
We work in Kg's over here...My normal weight has always been around 45kg's which was very skinny but now Im in the late 50's and its getting scary:eek:
I will however take your advice and try eating healthier foods...although its hard hard to stay away from the spare ribs, rump steak, burgers, chocolates and all those nice yummy things... but I have to if i dont want to end up being fat and depressed! Thank you
I too have the urge to eat (end of week 4 now) and chewing gum constantly but I'm putting weight on. I really don't want to get any bigger so I'm walking a lot .. helps with the cravings and hopefully counteracting the weight gain . . don't forget it's a good thing you've done quitting Jo
I'm on day 16 and have found that I've been eating pretty much non stop. The only thing I've done is tried to munch on celery, melon and loads of microwaved popcorn so I don't put on too much weight. I also run but I don't find that does anything to help with weight loss, just keeps me fit. Given 20 cigarettes at the moment I'm not sure whether I'd smoke them or eat them!
Well ive actually lost a bit was 72is it kg i think now down to 70, but I have stopped myself from eating all the wrong things, plenty of fruit, veg, crackerbread. Our cupboards are filled with goodies, but I just control it. Eating properly and controlling what you eat on the fatty stuff really.
Well Im almost at the end of Day 18 and like always Ive over-eaten again!
Does anyone else have this problem where they feel the need to continuosly eat? *doesnt look like that spelt right but who cares!*
I dont feel like this everyday... ok I lie, I probably do...How do I keep away from the food!!!! I dont want to end up looking like a whale!!!!
Told my customers they had to come back in 5 mins as I had to rush to the shop for huge bag of wotsits -Me thinks I need to excercise more - But food tasting so good - Day 5 Quit
I've been the same. From day 1 i've wanted to eat and not healthy stuff. I've wanted crisps, chocolates chips anything thats not good for you. I do exercise but that just makes me hungrier. I'm in my 9th week now and It's starting to calm a bit, I do feel now I can get control of it. I think most people who quit go through this. So from Monday it healthy all the way. Like the others i feel that's the only way. Carry on eating but loads of healthy stuff
i've been coming home from work every day and literally stuffing myself with a HUGE plate of salad - beetroot, cucumber, celery, spinach, watercress, nice bread, and yummy stuff like olives and fish (I can justify spending the money on good food now I'm not wasting it on nasty fags)...i get soooo full afterwards that I cannot possibly eat or drink anything else (nor do i feel like a smoke...) so i just watch telly and let it digest (I'm not a telly watcher normally, i usually rush around doing stuff that probably doesn't need to be done) - I'm actually enjoying the rest! good luck with it x
