A Month over but the depression is setting in

So just coming up to a month now and I'm happy to say that i'm not really having many physical cravings, however i feel really down. It feels like grief which i suppose makes sense as i have lost a big (horrible) part of my life. Just knowing that the itch will never be scratched again is making me very sad. I'm staying strong but spending most nights in tears isnt helping my resolve. Is anyone else feeling like this? :(

  • Hi Holly!

    Pleased to meet you!

I can sympathise completely. Have had the exact same problems. In fact, my depression was so bad, I wasn't even sure if it was withdrawal or something else. It gets better though -- I quit on 16 December, and the depression is much better now (I get depression anyway, so I guess I'm about normal for me, lol!)

And don't worry about scratching that itch -- I used to do that too, but then the itch stopped itching! :-)

  • Hi Holly, you have justed echoed my thoughts and feelings. Its a month for me too.Keep positive thats all you can do.hugs to you x

  • There is a sense of loss I agree, but it's a one we can live with. To get over it I have increased my exercise regime and just generally getting out more in the fresh air. :)

  • know how you're feeling.

    Hi Hollie,

All I can say is I empathise with you completely. I'm only 10 days into my quit and I've been up and down like a yoyo. I agree it's about accepting that big horrible part of your life is over, but reinforcing to yourself the myriad of benefits your decision will bring. I agree with Dicko upping the amount of exercise definitely helps to lift your mood and gets the endorphins going. Best of luck Hollie and well done with your months quit.

    Best,

    PAMMIE.:)

  • I know exactly what you mean re the feeling of loss & the feeling down part. I guess a lot of us go thru it. Things just don't feel the same anymore. After just three days I felt lost, alone, missing something... It wears you down but you have to try and be mentally strong and tell yourself its only temporary & the benefits are so worth it. I'm stopping again tomorrow and it is this part I fear the most.

You're not alone, remember that :)

Go see your Dr. Have them test for your levels of Vitamin D!

Believe it or not, this can cause depression if your levels are low!

I had no idea! I was checked and yes my levels were down!

I had to take 50K UI for 5 days...and now take the normal

daily amount of 400 UI. See your Dr!!!!!!!!! God Bless
