The page will tell you the distance travelled and the expected time either for driving/cycling/jogging/walking (It doesn't take account of undulations/altitude - that makes my cycling time slower than jogging!!!!).

And moving to the Garmin and recording 'roughly how many calories' one has used. I'm assuming you're saying roughly due to the Garmin recording the burn rate being similar when one is cycling uphill and thereafter coasting downhill.
But then I struggle with my Garmin Edge and in point of fact a friend had to programme the route from the centre of a city to her ex smoking shelter
Edit: @Dave, it's amazing how much spare cash one has available now that we don't require to buy boxes of cancer sticks.

No I say roughly as I can't see how a one size fits all thing can be truly accurate.
It does show I burn more calories if going up hill and also if I input a higher weight for me in the settings. When coasting downhill there is very little change in the calories burned. When I do a route through the Mendips the calorie burn will be much higher than a longer run down onto the Somerset levels.
I've had the device a couple of years and it cost me a bit over £200 when I bought it, a treat for my 40th, my version (the Edge 605) is now discontinued.
