As title, just seeing if anyone who quit the same day as me would like a quit buddy, handy to see the days through with another quitter/s.

Day 12 today, last few days Ive had a few big cravings but pleased to say I didnt feed them!

Was out shopping yesterday and a man was stood outside mothercare smoking, I was shocked that it made me cough walking through the cloud of his smoke and actually made me feel yuck. Yes! I thought, that must be a good thing!

Then I was waiting outside the bank for my friend and saw loads of people smoking walking past, smelt numerous ciggies and found myself looking with envy coz they can have a cig and I cant! Ive read allen carrs hook and he spoke of this feeling but it felt so stupid.. Its not that I cant have a cig its that I wanted and still want to release myself from the life sentance of smoking! I had a good stern word with myself and a piece of gum! Then I made a point of actually looking at people who were smoking, they ddnt look like they were enjoying it, jusy 'doing' it if you know what I mean? It was a strange few minutes, reasoning with my own mind- but boy did I feel alot better afterwards, my mouth all minty, knowing my breath smells clean as do my clothes!

Last night I had a few drinks abd yet more cravings but all subsided very quickly :)

Has anyone got any more advice on that feeling of envy, it felt so silly!

Thanks for reading

Anna

Hey Anna

Turn that envy into feeling smug that you're not sentenced to smoking anymore. I enjoy floating past the cigarette counter at the supermarket knowing I'm not standing there in the long queue to waste my money on cigarettes.

I have to say when I walk through a cloud of smoke I do love the smell and I really enjoy those few seconds (but it doesn't make me want to smoke) but smelling some ON someone - YUCK!

Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with recognising and acknowledging the feelings of envy or enjoying the smell etc. Giving in to those feelings is what is can cause a downfall. Hope that makes sense :)

Keep up the good work though, you're getting there! ;)

Envy

I've gotten quite familiar with that feeling of envy. Both my housemates smoke, not inside the house though. Every time they head outside I get a little twinge of "wish I could have one with them". It does help that its the middle of winter over here in Australia and so I step outside and watch them huddled up in the cold having a smoke and smugly go back inside where its warm. 10 min later they come back inside and ewww they smell just so badly of stale cigarette smoke.
