Never a truer word spoken :D

One of my saying too is, I would rather be fatter and healthier than thinner and unfit!!

Just a little word of advice, don't try to do too much as once, i would concentrate on getting through the quit, before fighting the bulge:)

Im going to wait until after Christmas before i start exercising... that way i can still eat as much as i want and just blame the quitting cigs for the weight gain and not because i was being a greedy pig :D

WELL DONE ON THREE WEEKS!! BLOOMING BRILLIANT

Snowie xx

hehe that was going to be my excuse as well snowie :p mind you to be honest im not worrying about the weight side till the new year mainly because i know that i can only do one thing at a time so staying smoke free is no1 the weight side can wait till after the holiday season with all the yummy foods in the shops that are just going to tempt me into buying and eating them anyways

He, he. Unfortunately, I am going to have to start now cos I can't get into any of my trousers!:D

Chocolate has gone off the shopping list and been replaced by carrot sticks and humus :D:D:D

Have to say that I have been quit 11 months and about one pound per month has been my biggest problem, I know they say that your metabalism slows down when you quit but mine has stopped and refuses to get started again, oh well theres not much I can do about it at the mo as every time I decide to get rid of some of the excess pudding I have to go shopping and buy more food.

Good luck to you all not only in your quit but with your weight as well.

Being broke must have its benefits LOL.

Am right there with you! I posted yesterday about my 20 minute wokout DVD I got - well did it yesterday and today could hardly get out of bed! For someone who used to TEACH classes that is bad!

However, I also know since I had my son 4 years ago been a lazy turd, so I deserve some pain. Plus at least that means it is working. My plan currently is to replace 2 cans of coke a day with water (I am also a coke addict!) plus have replaced beer with wine, and cut consumption in half currently - by my reckoning that should result in losing over a pound a week (500 calories cut a day equals 1lb loss a week).

One thing I know from the past is it is far easier to make simple changes than change your lifestyle e.g. semi-skimmed instead of full fat or skimmed instead of semi. Water instead of soda. An apple for a morning snack, or 1.5 less on your plate. Is much easier (for me anyway) to make those changes and stick to them!

My god I am waffling again, but am right there with you!

Totally with you there Genes... I didn't drink for 12 days (sounding like and alckie now!) and it's amazing how much less 'bloated' I felt after that time! (went out drinking last night tho and ended up in MacDs... so am feeling all big and horrible again)

Also, I've started having cereal and porridge as my snacks rather than chocolate and sweets. I get chocolate cravings like I used to crave cigs now, it's wierd! but am going to the gym 5 times a week so that if I have that chocolate brownie I don't feel bad about it really :)

btw, were you drinking full fat coke Genes??? the calories in that is just ridiculous! It's a shame cos it tastes pretty good on a warm summer's day... with some ice... mmm...

Yes I was on full fat coke - dumb huh?! That alone should be enough for me to see a difference! A friends mum lost 2 stone by just cutting out sugar in her tea!

LOL i am down to one pair that fits ok

When these ones rae in the wash and i have to wear the other pairs, i tend to have the waist un-done and wear a long baggy jumper over the top

When in doors i live in my jim jam bottoms though, i do like a bit of comfort lol

I've banged on 5lbs in 3 weeks. Need to stop eating crisps, really. I'm having a bag of Seabrookes for every fag I would have had, pretty much! I did buy some new trainers, on my last quit, but that's as near as I got to getting fit again. Worn once in 8 months!

Maybe after Christmas eh? ;)

LOL Munter, well I completely failed to do my fitness DVD again today - my excuse to myself was that I showered this morning and it is cold and unpleasant when I get out, therefore I will not subject myself to 2 showers in a day!!!! I mean seriously, who am I kidding - it is a 20 minute workout, I could either do it and shower and still be warm OR just shower again in the morning as instead I have sat at home eating mini-sausage rolls!:eek:

Tomorrow I SHALL get back on my fitness wagon!

nsd_user663_7529 profile image
nsd_user663_7529

Don't mention sausage rolls. They're the very worst thing I can have - as soon as I stop smoking I see them everywhere! I really can't go anywhere near them these days. I had an ulcer earlier in the year - substituting a nicotine habit for a pastry habit could very well end up killing me quicker than the fags ever would have!

nsd_user663_15147 profile image
nsd_user663_15147

Yup, I have to admit, the only thing I remember bout the previous post is 'sausage rolls'.... mmmmmmmm...

Luckily (or not) you can't get them in Luxembourg bakeries... guess I'm going to have to settle for a butter croissant :D

This lot are pretty near where I live:

voakespies.co.uk/

They are the best I've ever had and sell at the local market. I can only look these days, but blimey - they do LOOK good! :)

MMmmmm, I love croissants but they are so so so sooooooooo bad. Do you think if no one sees me eat one the calories still count ;)

nsd_user663_15147 profile image
nsd_user663_15147

If no one sees you or if someone has brought a big batch in for a special ocassion at work then it doesn't have any calories :)

Also, calories don't count on Friday, Saturday and Sunday - great isn't it?!

Oh, and Munter... I must try every single pastry on that site! they look amazing!

Ok, so the call of the sausage roll siren is getting to us.....and the Baileys is encouraging a more rotund figure and rosey complexion but....guys....this is about survival!!!

It is winter, we are non hibernating mammals with not enough hair to keep us warm - we need the blubber.

Oops! My waist has increased by 4in!

Aaargghh that's two dress sizes now, oh well, looks like the breakfast will be the next meal to get the calorie reduction treatment!:D

nsd_user663_7529 profile image
nsd_user663_7529

I have gone from 15 st 3 to 15 st 12 since 1st November. That is a little more than a bit extra for winter.

Minds't you, it was -13 when I got in the car this morning!

nsd_user663_13507 profile image
nsd_user663_13507

I have now gone from a size 10 to a size 14, exactly 1 stone on in exactly 2 months!!!

Had to buy a new frock for the work dance and have 2 wardrobes full of smaller sizes upstairs. I have 1 pair of Jeans and 1 trousers that fit:mad:

But still not smoking :D

nsd_user663_19230 profile image
nsd_user663_19230

One of the reasons I wanted to quit was to be able to exercise again to lose some weight (just a little while ago I could barely walk a short distance without being able to breathe properly). After just over two weeks, I'm afraid I have gained yet more weight  However, it is Christmas next week so I intend to start my new fitness regime after the festivities!

I had my first vivid dream last night that our roof was leaking. I also dreamt my friend was pregnant....met up with her today and she told me she is pregnant! Maybe not smoking has given me psychic powers :D
