Its now nearly 12 hours since I gave up smoking, as I didn't have a roll up with my cup of coffee this morning when I woke up but stuck on a nicotine patch and had a mini lozenge instead. Its been a horrible day and I feel terrible, but I'm so chuffed with my little self.
This is the first time I've tried to give up. I've been smoking since I was 18 and I'm now 35. I know its not going to be easy, but hopefully taking it one day at a time will make it more manageable. Though at the moment, I feel like celebrating every half an hour.
Hopefully will still feel positive tomorrow - fingers crossed!

Good for you Suzy. You have made the best decision of your life. There is no reason now why you should ever smoke again. If you feel like celebrating every half hour do so. Get your head down tonight, wake up and you'll be a full day, great innit. Come on here often and share with us how you're feeling, however it is, someone here will have gone through something similar. Welcome to the forum Suzy and do loads of reading the stuff people have in their sigs. David.
Thanks for the welcome David, really appreciate it. I've had a read through some of the other posts and picked up some good tips. Keeping busy seems really important, which is what I've tried to do today - short bike ride, lunch with a friend and bit of shopping for distraction snacking items. Off for a longer bike ride with a friend tomorrow, so will hopefully tire myself out and can look forward cycling up hills becoming easier in the next few weeks. best wishes suzanne
Hey suzy d well done ....woo hoo ....uve done day 1 ...almost day 2 ...every minute you dont smoke u should feel proud ...i feel proud of you just by reading ure post ...just brilliant xxxx
So proud of my little self. It was really hard. I was nearly crawling up the walls mid morning, my brain was really confused at lunch time and I couldn't think straight, all I could think about was how much I'd like a roll up. The NiQuitin Minis seemed to have helped with cravings but obviously not the habit though the little plastic tub they're in is great for holding / keeping hands occupied. I was very tired by the evening but made it through the day without having a smoke all day.
I was surprised that I woke up feeling full of the joys of spring this morning, as its now nearly midday, I've almost made it through a day and half
Thanks for all the messages, really appreciate them.
Well done Suzy. I can promise you that no matter how hard it gets in the near future, there will come a time when you don't even think about smokes anymore. Took me about 4 months to entirely never think about them.
