hi all, just popped in to say I've made it to 4 months. I thought that by now the cravings would have gone but I still would love a smoke. Although I haven't smoked for 4 months I only came off the patches 5 weeks ago, has anyone else found this . Marie:confused:
when does it feel ok?: hi all, just popped in... - No Smoking Day
when does it feel ok?
Every day I want to smoke. Every time one of my mates does themselves a rollup. Or I've just eaten. Or I'm drinking a coffee. Or I see someone smoke in the street. Or...the list goes on. At some point the cravings will go. I know this because during my lifetime I have at various times quit alcohol, cannabis and other harder drugs and in every case the cravings have eventually gone away.
Well done for reaching 4 months Marie.
me too!
I still want to smoke, I've just had a giant skinny latte from starbucks, and thought hmmmm ciggie time now.
I'm not sure if they're cravings though, just think that its a 23 year habit that needs to be broken.
I think if it was a real craving, I'd be moody, and I'm not!
Hi Marie
Well done on your 4 months and 5 weeks of the patches. i think Beccy is right if they was like craves in the first week we would give in to them its because its something we have done for years in my case 35 years. So if you think about it it will not disapear over night. But it do get better with time honest the more time you put between the last ciggy the better you feel. your doing great hun keep up the good work.xxxxx
Hi Marie, I think we've got a little while before smoking doesn't enter our minds, and we'll never think like someone who has never smoked, but thinking about it isn't a problem, it's whether you want to turn that thought into a good or bad thing. I wouldn't worry about thinking about smoking, just remember that it's nothing to miss, just something that was in your past, just like you'd think of a good holiday, friend etc. difference is you weren't addicted to them.
Keep those thoughts positive, 4 months is absolutely fantastic so keep moving on until it really is just a distant memory.

Think it's just breaking all the associations.....If something has been done for 10-40 times a day,for years it gets associated in with the other things as habit. So a coffee can still make us think of them, eating , waking up, holidays, drinking, getting off buses, waiting, smokers etc. etc. etc. Takes a few times of doing these things without thinking you need a cig to do it.
I had a bit of a wobble at 4 months ish. But it was so good to be without nicotine at all, and not to need it no more! 5 months in a few days(" months off the patches) Its much easier and i rarely think of them. If i do, i can't say that i really want one....
4 months is great Marie.
just a bit wobbly
thanks everyone, I feel a bit better knowing it's normal. Living with too much stress at the moment and often think what the hell but I haven't succumbed yet. Marie
