best of luck on day 3

Morning fallen angel,

Your on CT aren't you?

In that case you are soooo close. You have 2 days invested, get through today and there is no more nicotine left in your body!

After that you realize that, hey, I have no nicotine left in me, why am I feeling a crave? That's when it hits home that stopping smoking is almost all in your mind and your attitude to it.

When you have just your mind left to deal with it's a touch easier, there is no more physical withdrawal making things tougher, and as such each day becomes a bit easier as you get over your triggers and start dealing with you mental addiction.

I saw getting through day 3 as one of the most pivotal days and you are right there, keep strong today, do whatever it takes to make it. Days after this will probably still have their sukey moments but never as much or as bad.

Kind regards

Chris

Day 3 for me as well - yesterday was harder than day 1 I thought, hoping that today will be better. Been sucking on lots of lollipops, drinking water and deep breathing, seems to help me?:)

I am on patches though, didn't have the guts to do it CT!

It's still not as bad as I though it was going to be though, and I think a lot of these posts are right - a lot of it is pyschological as much as physical, so keep a strong positive mindset as well :)

Yes i went CT so i'm excited about all the nicotine having left my body anytime soon. I'll also be glad when my sleep pattern returns to normal. I never ever wake at night, once asleep i'm gone lol bt since i've given up smoking i wake up all sweaty. Is this the nicotine plating with me?

Still coughing like crazy too.

Well done! Hang in there!

You're so brave going ct. I had to choose gum as I just know I don't have the strength to keep at ct. I've heard the first 2 days are the killer, so you should be through the worst of the physical stuff by now. Don't cave now!

I changed from inhalator (obv designed by a non smoker - sucking a straw would me more satisfying) to gum which is working great for me. Have eaten like a pig on days 1 and 2. Allowing one more day of gluttony before reigning that in. Figure saving the self control for smoking is more important just now.

Good luck with the rest of day 3! We all hope to see you in days 4-6 board tomorrow!

Hi Angel, so day 3 fantastic. At the end of 72 hours all the nicotine in your body will be gone and this has gotta be good news. Hopefully the sleeping thing will sort itself out very soon.

Stay strong and before you know it you will in the 4-7 days room and on your way to a whole week as a non smoker.

Well done.

HI Fallen Angel

Well done for getting to day 3, so many fall by now and you haven't so huge congratulations.

Day 2 is hell...for many of us it really was the worst....but it is done and never to be repeated...huge hugs and well done.

The sleep thing is common but it will settle down, it may take a few more nights but it will get better I promise. I wont lie and say the rest is easy because unless you are really lucky it probably wont me BUT it is so worth it.

Stay really strong and focused...when you feel like giving in remember how awful yesterday was and ask yourself if you ever want to do it again. I promise that staying quit and riding out the cravings, sleeplessness or anything thrown at you is far far easier than trying to quit from scratch again.

You are doing amazingly well...xx

Morning, day 3 for me too.

What bothers me most is that it's been quite easy... almost too easy... have I secretly been smoking the whole time? :D

I got some Nicotinell gum but it is so disgusting that it's worked rather well as aversion therapy after two bits. Needed one after dinner on Day 1 (total trigger time) but spat it out when the taste came through! I smoked quite a lot, I thought, but 2mg is foul :o So I suppose I'm doing CT.

I'm worried because it's easy :(

dont be worried. Everyones quit is different. Just enjoy it! I would advise to be on your guard incase a crave hits but just carry on as you are and well done!!

Fallen angel, I've got bad headaches as well, and feel really dopey today, guess it must be all those toxins working their way out of out systems:(

Funnily enough, haven't felt stressed or irritable yet, but my husband has been Mr. Angry for the last 2 days, and he gave up 10 years ago - what's that about?!! I didn't even smoke in the house so it can't be passive smoking - he's obviously just in a really bad mood, but normally very chilled so he didn't pick a good week to get stroppy:D

Almost there!

The nicotine is nearly gone - today is going to be hard but you just have to trust the people on here who've done it, tomorrow things are going to ease up. Then the next day will ease up a bit more. And so it goes on! You're doing an AMAZING thing!!!!

Headaches, lightheadedness, and trouble sleeping are all symptoms of CT, and a good thing 'cos you're body is readjusting to life without drug dependency. But hey, don't make it harder! Have a painkiller for your head, drink loads of water, and make sure you cut right down on caffeine (without nicotine, caffeine has more of an effect so this might make you jittery, and affect your sleep). You need to try to keep your blood sugar stable as well - not by scoffing loads but by spreading it out. I've got a bunch of grapes on my desk I keep picking at. I got all this info from the website whyquit.com which is a brilliant resoruce

Keep on keepin' on!

nsd_user663_8868 profile image
nsd_user663_8868

Yep - your brain's rewiring all those nerve endings destroyed by smoking. You've also got normal oxygen levels in your blood now, which can make you feel lightheaded. Talk about a natural "high"!

Just keep pumping yourself full of water and these too shall pass.

feeling much better now, im glad your not feeling too bad. i just feel like my whole head had been covered in a blanket, and i cant get out. ( weird i know lol)

ive been sleeping really well though, apart from being rudely woken up by my 3 year old weeing in my bed last night. nice! lol

Just came back from seeing the nurse, she was all primed to tell me how to give up smoking when i proudly told her 'i already have' :D CT too :D She gave me loads of info that might help but tbh i've found the info on here loads better.

The one thing she did say is 'alcohol increases the craves' but i'm not giving up all my vices just yet! Another thing, if you are a cannabis smoker then you should use a pipe to chill, just don't roll with nicotine. (OH will be pleased) :)

Keep going everyone!

:( im on day three too and its my worse day so far, especially as its friday.

Im so annoyed i cant even visit my partner over the wkend as his family smoke, and i dont trust myself to go out.

Feeling very down about it today and really struggling to stop myself going to the shop.

Im also starting to regret trying patches again for this attempt. Its plain to see from the majority of posts that either Champix or cold turkey are by far the best techniques. Might be more inclined to be positive if i knew that i was nearly at the point of getting rid of all the nicotene, but im not.

Very, very bad day :(

in fact, im pretty certain im going to cave in!

Will give it til half three and hope im feeling different :(

You can do this Hazie, it's so worth it :D If other people chose to smoke let them but take pride in your own strength that you have quit.

I passaed a guy in the village today with pipes coming out of his nose , he was doing his morning shop i suppose that was pretty tough for him. Alot tougher than what we are going through.

Trust me my head is banging, i'm snappy and all the oh wants is sex.

thanku, i am trying sooo hard but i just really regret having started with the patches, coz now im just worried that ive got another mountain to climb when the patches have to some off :( so wish i had gone cold turkey!

Poor u! my partner hasnt even dared look at me since yesterday!! lol! is this your third day too? ct?

really disappointed with myself :(

just had the first one, 2 and a half days in.

Pointless really, the craving for one is now just replaced with guilt and depression that i didn't do it!

Ive printed of loads of information from the links people have put on here and im hoping that will strengthen my resolve as i think im going to ditch the patches and just go ct and try and detox myself out of it on monday.

Really hoping this will be my last failed attempt!

The help on here is amazing though, so nice to share how i feel without boring my family and partner lol

Heres hoping for monday back in day 1 forum!

I think a nice shag would take my mind off the craving and aches and pains I've suddenly got in my leg and back

nsd_user663_8876 profile image
nsd_user663_8876

Poor u hazie, :( I think cold turkey is doing it for me. My oh is using those inhalers but only 2 puffs a day. (naughty becoz he's having a spliff at night  ) but i feel that he'll never be free of the cravings as long as he feeds the nicotine.

Cold turkey is rough, i feel confused, snappy, like i'm losing the plot but the cravings aren't too bad. I'm praying these feelings will go soon.

See you monday Hazie, chill and enjoy your weekend. :)
