Day 1 HELP!

Today is the first day in 12 years that I haven't smoked a cigarette, I am using Champix to help me stop. I'm quite scared as this is the first time I've tried to stop but want to give it a good shot. Feeling a little crazy today! Anxious, teary, restless, tired, then having bursts of energy, and a little sad. Worried about tomorrow as I've heard day 2 is worse! Need some encouragement...!!!

Well done for starting your quit

Lymp217 your doing great. Don't worry too much about tomorrow, concentrate on today. You're doing well. Read some of the post on the site for day 1 and week 1 they are very informative. I found drinking loads of water, exercise and deep breaths helped me in the first week. I have no experience of Champix but there threads from other people with experience of it. Good luck!

Hi there

I'm almost heading into month 5 and have got this far by taking Champix. I won't pretend that it has been easy but it hasn't been tough either if that makes sense and each day it gets easier. To be honest I now think to myself how did I ever smoke. I really believe that I wouldn't have been able to do it without Champix. Sometimes people mention feeling sick as one of the side effects and what I found is that as long as I eat something immediately before taking the tablet I wouldn't feel sick at all. It didn't have to be anything big even just a piece of toast or a biscuit and I was fine. Keep going though it really is the best feeling in the world to be heading towards being a confirmed non smoker :o

Well done Lymp, day one nearly under your belt. Don't worry about the days ahead, think of today, and deal with tomorrow, tomorrow.

Read as much information as possible to at least give you an idea of what is happening to your body, but remember, everyone reacts differently so don't try to prepare for what might be, cos it might not happen. Some of it may be tough, but it's not impossible. Think of things that make you smile, things that you like to do, hear, read, eat, whatever, places you like to go.

People on here will give you fabulous support, read posts and read links in the posts.

Stay positive and strong, and don't forget one day at a time.

Lorraine :)

Hi Lymp :)

Well done deciding to stop smoking a huge decision for most of us

There really is no need to be scared hun I promise and the way you're feeling is normal early in a quit as well

Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathising with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

This link is good for the psychological part of quitting whyquit.com/whyquit/A_Sympt...

Post often to let us know how you're doing, to rant, rave have a moan whatever you like pretty much anything goes on here OK

Love

Marg

Hi lymp, yesterday was my day 1 quitting on Champix too so I know how you feel. Just try and remember that it will pass, and maybe get out and take a walk if it is nice.
