and go and buy a bigger size pair of jeans this morning
Only a cheapy pair so I could sit down comfortably, bend over easily and actually do the bloody zip up! That's it though...the only larger item I'm buying. There's a chocolate ban till Christmas...then one day of stuffing and then the diet begins.
Perhaps we could start a post-Christmas/Quitting diet thread? (not that I'm saying any of you are fat...you all look great but you might want to give me a bit of encouragement!)

I've not bought bigger yet and I won't but it's getting very close
Thanks goodness for long baggy winter woollies so I can unzip the jeans and relax. I bought myself a lovely skirt early mid november and can't fit in it now.
There's been mention in the Octo Group chat social room thingy about a weigh in/support for loosing Quit/Xmas pounds after Christmas........
I decided to take things in hand last Monday and massively reduce crisps and completely cut out choc and alcohol. Managed to loose 3lbs and aim to loose the same again before Xmas and then put it back on and then loose it again and more.
I refuse to put on any more from my quit.... Xmas gain is acceptable but that's it.

I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry for shouting, but I decided I could no longer carry on with the top button undone on all my pants/jeans/skirts. The really sad thing is I have gone from an 8/10 to a 12 which are JUST fitting. Oh dear lord someone shoot me.
However it's just the wrong time of year to do a lot about it (I think it's the demon drink, as that leads to the demon chinese etc!). We are staying in this week (we tend to go for a couple of meals through the week) however from Friday we have 10 nights out until the 2 January!!!!!!!! I will be huge.
We could start a fat club in the social section where we can compare how many pies we have all eaten. Sorry without humour I would throw myself off the roof at the moment. xx

You are just too bloody marvellous for words (proud of you).
However I think we all needed to eat ourselves stupid in the early days (which we did!!) because we needed the comfort and I remember being so damn hungry all the time. However now that has past and I'm just eating to be naughty, so I need to get a grip but it's a bad time to start getting a grip. I'm fat but I'm a non smoker!! Thank god leggins are in!!! I love leggins!!

Oh, I'm not, believe me............. but I won't burst your bubble
At one point I had only put on 6 or 8lbs then that suddenly shot up to 12lbs - may as well make it a stone.... I do round up or down... that's an up.
Most of my gain was drink I believe..... less smoking, needing the hand to mouth thing, drink did it and more than extra eating in my case. Having a stinking cold helped to loose those pounds this week. I nearly cracked last night by almost texting my son to bring home, from the pub he works at, crisps and chocolate, took all my resolve not to. Had a decaf tea and 2 slices of toast instead whilst curled up on the sofa............ how boring was that? I sat there shaking my head at myself:confused:
Christine..... only someone still reasonably slim or someone in complete denial can love and wear leggings. You've gained a few more than me but your not in denial so your probably a lot more tempting to look at than you feel
I blame them for my first weight gain in the late 80's when they were in then.
Completely agree with fat club after the new year....
Loving leggings with very LONG sweaters this winter....hide everything. Had to buy bigger skirt and currently have one skirt and one pair of trousers for work that fit.
Pol....do you want to have the fat club clip board, I have my hands full with the Octoquits.
Just so long as you don't wear the leggings with a baggy t-shirt Christine you'll be fine! (Oh the memories of some of the sights in the 80s...they should never have been sold to anyone bigger than a size 12!)
Yes I initially put on about 5/6lbs and then I think it was a 'I deserve something for what I'm going through!' attitude and that's when the chocolate came into play. I have to admit something here that only my family know. I LOVE the Asda smart price milk chocolate...it really is delicious...none of this high falutin 75% cocoa solids crap. At only 27p for 100g it's very affordable as well, 3 or 4 bars in one session no problem  (I'd better explain that originally I bought it to use in some cooking I was doing with my granddaughter.) So as I sit now, I have gained 14lbs...1 WHOLE EFFING STONE! One whole clothes size....and it's the biggest size I've ever bought, apart from maternity wear! Now there's a thought.....
So, hubby has been in the Emerald Isle visiting his brother and his old homestead so I did make the most of being on my own to have a few last suppers of chocolate. He's back later and will be keeping a beady eye on my consumption from now on
Might need to join you ladies, can't leave the pies alone, can't run and am on rations for other high intensity cardio, work trousers feeling tight. Refuse to wear leggings, they're stretchy, don't want to stretch anymore, too scared to get on scales.
All that said though at least I don't smoke so when I can run again, the only thing holding me back will be the belly - do you remember that ad with the huge belly - that's me that is (very Mary Whitehouse experience)
Having said all this have just scoffed lunch, which may explain the feeling fat thing.
Had fruit for breakfast but on an all day bender yesterday - so ate loads of shite.
Right you lot!!! Stop moping about any little weight gains here or there and consider the really good things that quitting smoking has done for you instead yeah?
I just did a quick google search, and found this info rather handy..
Just remember you folks though? You've quit smoking, and don't you dare be getting depressed at a little weight gain.. its FAR BETTER than allowing 4000+ poisons into your body for the sake of an addiction!
Pol....do you want to have the fat club clip board, I have my hands full with the Octoquits.xx
Haha  *wonders who will be the most deserving of ear swipes with the 'fat club clip board'* blimey... try saying 'fat club clip board' a few times and fast .
JJ, some memories of leggings from the 80's are really just terrible, those along with shell suits, oh dear oh dear ........... they should not have been sold full stop to men or woman
Right then..... I think a social group is the best place to mention aims/record progress etc, existing group or a a new group for Fat Octo's? There is one already set up for post quit diet.... we could post in that one?
I found out I had high cholesterol so decided to quit smoking as that blocks up the arteries as well. Prior to this I had a fairly low fat diet anyway so the doc deduced it was probably hereditary as my Dad died aged 47 of a blood clot. Soooooo....I'm now blocking them up even more with chocolate which I hardly ever touched before! I'm not going to use it as an excuse to start smoking but want to know what can I replace the chocolate with...that is just as pleasurable (no smut please, hubby isn't here 24/7 and no mention of any type of health foods).
I don't drink alcohol so I need a new vice....HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Right you lot!!! Stop moping about any little weight gains here or there and consider the really good things that quitting smoking has done for you instead yeah?
One stone is not just any little weight gain, and if we want to moan we will And if we want to do something about it then..... oh, we are
Perhaps you'd like to fund our new wardrobes:cool:
I'm still waiting for all the good things from quitting to come my way I smoked roll-ups and didn't quite have that many chemicals put into my body and my sense of smell and taste was virtually unaffected.... both were massively boosted with two pregnancies and never dropped following.
Thanks for the link though Jase (and to be told to 'get on with it') ..... it made for a useful reinforcement read
That's a very good idea Marg....might be able to find myself a nice Xmas outfit too!
Hi J J
Yeah you well might they have some lovely stuff sometimes a bit aggravating I agree as they don't always have what you want when you want it but just keep looking
I wanted something for a party went looking and nothing but back I went a couple days later and Bingo I had a choice of three outfits so bought two of them cost £10.00 now who can grumble at that eh
Haha  *wonders who will be the most deserving of ear swipes with the 'fat club clip board'* blimey... try saying 'fat club clip board' a few times and fast .

Oh the choice
Why don't we call it, Fat Octo quitters and their lardy friends (no offence people!!)
I put on a stone when i first gave up and went up to a large size 12, all went on the stomach making me look "with child" shall we say....(not smoking either)
I managed to lose most of it, the only good side effect of workplace stress, but have given up again and its starting to creep back. The size 12's i reluctantly bought, are back and feeling tight on hips, thighs , bum and muffin top.....
It really doesn't help that i am sitting here eating choc cake i know....
That's it then, 'Fat Octo quitters and their lardarse friends'.
Who's having the clipboard? When's the start date? What room we holding it in? We don't have to weigh ourselves in front of everyone do we?
Oh dear, who needs this this time of year? We didn't organise our quit very well did we? Oh well, get Christmas out the way, New Year out the way, my birthday out the way (5th January, and yes I do LOVE diamonds) and then we can start
All that said though at least I don't smoke so when I can run again, the only thing holding me back will be the belly - do you remember that ad with the huge belly - that's me that is (very Mary Whitehouse experience)
MAH....A Person who remembers the Fantabulous and wonderful Mary Whitehouse experience!!!!!! I am ecstatic! (still have videos...:D)
You see that tramp over there with the plastic bags and the can of special brew...That's your dad that is.....
How funny was the MW Experience......??? How sexy was Rob Newman?? Milky Milky...
Sorry JJ , back to the fat octoquitters and Novo lardettes meeting. Can I bring my chocolate cake in or not?
Sign me up with the rest of you lardarses! Exercise regime starts again as soon as the tail end of this blimmin migraine gets lost once and for all - for now I shall stay fat!
Yes I to have added more than a few pounds to my frame, and after going out to a xmas lunch today am feeling very bloated. I definately am joining and dont mind having the clipboard if no one else wants it !!! Why dont we start on Jan 4th as thats the Monday after new year, having said that I can start before if anyone else wants to.
Start it now please as I'm loosing (and have lost already) some lbs to put back on over Xmas then loose again afterwards but for me, it started last week.
I feel my quit is strong enough to cope with this too. In fact feeling better from one is going to help the other.
with all due respect Ladies i dont think Lorna is going to be very happy about giving up any clipboard, she is still in a foul mood about realising she is a mere prefect lol

She is going to beat you to death with that clip board, hide Jack, hide!!
we are all doing well, I have almost completed 3 weeks, 3 lbs up that usual for me I change on a weekly basis by about 5lb at most so not blaming cigs just yet.
last time i stopped for 18 months I gained 10 lbs and was miserable. but like Jase says try not o worry. easy to say and hard to do I know.
I am scared, worried and have to self talk, reason why a past eating disorder. as long as you are all about over th next few months I will be fine as you all will.
I like the idea of a fat thread but dont like its name, its too negative. can we come up with something positive to motivate all on here.. any suggestions..
anything healthy fun and funky will do.... when tempted to smoke of eat we can sing it I am not barmy btw

There is no place to hide.....swipe to Jacks head with clip board
I wander off to offer advice and support to some poor new starter and while my back is turned I get this type of abuse....
Well I am noting you all on my clip board...you are encouraging him.
I've asked mods to remove the Head Prefect badge but they wont and he is just using that to upset me now....
Right, Count me in too. I was OK when I first stopped smoking. In fact in the first month or so I actually lost weight.
But now, with cold weather and dark nights in front of the TV, the weight is beginning to creep on. Christmas is bound to be a weight-gain opportunity, so I'll be signing up.
I'm in! I assume this is for guys as well as gals - coz while my bum may not look big in this - the rest of me is and I am a bit of a fat b*stard since my quit.
I was going great guns from last April - I'd joined a gym, going nearly every day having a great time - while still smoking (didn't even strike me as odd then smoking outside a health club! Ahh...the stupidity of it all).
Then double whammy - broke my shoulder and had to give up smoking! The early days weren't so bad even though I couldn't go to the gym - I didn't seem to put on much weight. But now! I've got a gut that makes ME look like I'm with child and a neck that looks like its wearing a foam brace!!! A right looker!
So - I'm going to be realistic - its January now for back to the gym and much healthier eating (Is gravy a beverage??)
God it used to be awful opening the locker after a session in the gym, to get my clothes out, the stench of fags that hit me....jesus it was just awful!
Anyway, back to the lard....my bum is big, my hips are big, my waist is big, my bust is big (for once! can I keep these?) and I don't want a big neck but I dare say if I keep eating this way I'll get one!
