Hi everyone, Ive been smoking for 20 odd years 15-20 a day, this is about my fifth attempt at giving up..I feel more confident than ever, tried patches, zyban cold turkey previously and am using the mini Lozenges 4mg ones and have found them so far so good...

The worse time I find is if I go out for a drink, even though none of my friends smoke, and previously thought well a couple when Im out wont hurt and find myself back on them within a couple of weeks:mad:.

Anyway hopefully this time..

Hi Maidenfan :)

Well done deciding to stop smoking and on getting to day 12 that's great

Most of us on here have had more than one attempt at this as well just keep going

Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathising with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here

are 2 I found very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com

Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

This link is good for the psychological part of quitting whyquit.com/whyquit/A_Sympt...

Post often to let us know how you're doing, to rant, rave have a moan whatever you like pretty much anything goes on here OK

Love

Marg

Welcome to you Maidenfan

I've no idea how long your previous attempts at quiting lasted but you obviously have a pretty good idea of what to expect over the coming days/weeks/months.

This site and it's members, along with some great hints, really does help. Take full advantage of it, it can really reinforce the mind set to make it (giving up) happen.

All the best

Pol

Welcome maidenfan, drinking and smoking is such a strong combination. Be very careful. Getting to day 12 is great. Joining here is such a great help for the times when you need some motivation, a friendly comment, a hug, someone to listen to u rant, or a suggestion and a place to brag how many days, weeks, months u have gone smoke free. :D

hey all thanks for your supportive words. The longest I went was for 8 months:eek: but I would ALWAYS have a "crafty" couple when I went out..I have found the forums SO full of good advice, had a couple of strong cravings over the weekend but will be in week 3 tomorrow, and that jar is filling up with some cash for my XBOX 360:D..That is something Ive never done before, save the money... However, have a few friends round Saturday night for an xmas drink...And I am already thinking how I will get through the night, how sad is that:(..I know I cant just have that one..Anyway thanks again

Hi Maidenfan :D

Well done 3 weeks tomorrow and by the time your friends con=me on Satyrday it will be almost another week done

Limit the amount you drink then decide on a safe amount for you just now and stick to it after you reach that amount just switch to soft drinks

Love

Marg xx

Good for you and well done for getting through the weekend. Stay strong and before you know it, three weeks will be completed, let alone due to start tomorrow.

When I had some friends visit I asked them to smoke outside. They all agreed without a problem..... which is what I would expect friends to do. If any had grumbled out loud then they would have deserved to get even colder and wetter :) My house, my friends, my rules, my quit.

I'm fine now and those few left that do smoke can do so but only in certain rooms, not just any where.

Make plans to get yourself through evenings like this.... don't dwell on 'can I' instead plan the 'I will and this is how'.

All the best

Pol
