Help me if you can!

Okay so i used to smoke dope when young. Managed to quit it for good after a long struggle. And then got even more hooked on the cigarettes. This went on for a couple of years until where i am right now. I've been smoking about twenty cigarettes a day or if i had roll-ups i'd probably smoke closer to thirty/forty. I've just been trying a pipe today after having my last cigarette last night - and although successful with it a couple of times i'd like to just keep it to an every once in a while thing, if possible. So i'm not sure where i fit into this forum as i still would like the odd pipe of tobacco, not inhaling but with a lesser amount of nicotine absorbed through the mucus. So i want to quite the cigarettes but not sure if i can say goodbye to smoking forever - is there a place for me here?

Anyone trying/attempting to quit the fags has a place here. We are all different, and all need different levels of support.

From a health point of view, I think pipe smoking is not so good, you might notice you start to get a bit chesty.

And then maybe, just maybe, you can start to kick that habit too!

There is so much I want to say to you. I quit cigs 20 years ago by switching to cigars. I went from the frying pan into the fire (Is there a British way of saying that) with that one. Nicotine induction is nicotine induction. I encourage you to quit. It is not easy. A great many things in life that are worthwhile are indeed hard. Hang in there.

Welcome to the forum GreenFingers..... of course there is a place for you here. Going from 20 fags a day to the occasional pipe sounds good indeed..... but as the others, I encourage you to quit it all. The reason you smoke is to feed your addiction......... that's really it. If you keep smoking the pipe, you'll keep the addiction alive and it might very well become a struggle....... you may end up living from pipe to pipe, with time in between craving.

This decision is so up to you..... you do what is best for you, no one will judge you but in my opinion, it is best to get clean and rid yourself of this nasty addiction completely..... this journey can be rocky and I can guarantee it will be more rocky if you add nicotine to your system whilst trying to get off the fags.

You'll get tons of support on this forum so please take advantage of it! Good luck!
