Hi everyone!

Well I managed to quit for about a month a couple of years ago with a lot of help from this forum - but succumbed to a very smoky pub at the wrong time of month.........

Now I'm BACK! After a false start on Friday with just my (lack of) willpower and lasting exactly 24 hours before I was running off to the shop for a fix - I decided not to give up giving up and stocked up on patches. I slapped my first one on before bed last night and haven't wanted to smoke particularly much since! So here we go again - 3rd time lucky!:D

Hi MCW :)

Well done deciding to restart your quit as you probably know lots of us have tried loads of times before to quit

I'm sure you know the things to do and not do but am sending you my standard welcome and advice post as you may need a reminder

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathiseing with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

This link is good for the psychological part of quitting

whyquit.com/whyquit/A_Sympt...

Post often to let us know how you're doing, to rant, rave have a moan whatever you like pretty much anything goes on here OK

Keep going, its soooooooooooo hard! This is about my 6th attemp and i am going to make sure its my last attemp. This attempt is the first time i have been on here and i have found it brilliant. Instead of having a cig i come on here for 5 mins and it has really motivated me. Its still early days for me too but i am on day 3 and yesterday was a real struggle but feeling loads better today.

Good luck and keep posted.

Flipper,

You're doing brilliant - first three days is the hardest - so I hear, so you're already over that hurdle.Keep going.

PS. Should be easy given your name as under water swimming/snorkling/scuba diving were about the only sports I haven't found a way of doing them while smoking!

I've never tried patches before - don't know if it was related or not but I wasn't half having strange dreams last night! Must be cos I've never found a way to smoke in my sleep before! :p

I just finished giving the kitchen a major clean - I'd normally be smoking NOW and I DO want one, but I'm telling myself it's all in the mind as I'm getting nicotine from the patch! I just need to break the actual habit itself!

Thanks for the support everyone!

I'm nearly through day one and the temptations have been so slight it's been easy to resist so far. Glad the dreams aren't just me - gonna try the patch overnight anyway just to see what entertainment I get!

I just dug out my old posts from when I NEARLY quit and remembered that it helped to suck a tic tac if I had a craving - so I've stocked up!

See you on day two!

No relation - I must be madder! And I have more cats than the last time I tried to quit - they're helping me!

Aww bless, poor old moggy - my mum's cat who turned up when I was about 16 doesn't have long left, she's 15 now.:(

And I've always suspected one of ours of smoking! He was never far away when I was rolling one up - funnily enough haven't seen much of him today! :D

:)Talk about cats all you like! We have 7 of the little boogers, the latest one being a stray who decided to adopt us last week.

It's great that there are more cat people around here!
